I have thoroughly enjoyed using your site to help me with my coaching plans for my under 9's netball team.
I have found that my players worked well as a group and also really enjoyed a Quiz about Netball (both rules and history of netball in general)but I have run out of questions, I usually only finish our training sessions with one question for each member of our team and use any the following week that they got wrong so they are learning at the same time. If you have any ideas please let me know as I have searched the web and every other resource I can find, Some of the questions I have used are How many seconds can you hold the ball? How far away do you need to be before arms go up to defend? How is a short pass measured? Where does a ball need to be touched first after a centre pass? Name 2 examples of Good spartsmanship? Name the 7 Positions in a Netball Game How many players on a Netball court during a Game? (trick question, usually andswered with 7, keeps them on their toes) In which Country did netball begin? What is the Name of the Australian Netball Team? What time do we turn up for a Game on Saturdays? If you land on 2 feet while catching the ball, which foot can you pivot on? PLease help, I need more questions, we still have a long year ahead %3A) Thanks
I've just taken over coaching a team of 10/11 year olds in a once a week school netball club. A player myself I havent done much coaching (but this site is fab!). Does anyone have any drills for 1) helping the girls to mark their opponents and 2) how to get free to receive a pass? Thanks

Hi allWhats the best way to defend a great holding shooter?And I also have a player who every time receives the ball she'll just pass straight away, I always keep encouraging her to hold it for just a little bit as most of the times and look for options 1,2, or 3, the pass just isn't in the right space, or she'll pass to a heavily defended player, etc I have been doing a lot of drills involving timing, space, driving and passing she tends to get it in training just not in match play. She just seems frantic. Any tips. As I just want to get this across to her.

HI EveryoneI recently switched from GK AND GD, to WA. I'm finding it difficult to feed the ball into the circle and having confidence in my passing accuracy. I'm also having trouble on getting free for centre pass, especially when the other team has a really good WD. I've only played WA a couple of times so I'm still learning, but I really don't want to let my team down. Thanks all, for the help!

What techniques can I teach my inexperienced girls to get free?
I'm coaching u/10's and have an excellent A team, but the B team have learners who haven't been playing netball so long. Does anyone have one or two basic activities, easy to understand (for them) which I can drill them with for passing, defending and getting free, as well as something for the shooters. They are always all over the place (we do practice channels) and really struggle to get free - they run a bit and then just stop to wait for the ball. Anything, even just some advice would be appreciated! :)
My teams is playing opposition this week who has a very good GD who is a master floater. Last time we played them we played into her hands and lost by 2 and I want to have a few tactics for this week.We also had a young player fill-in WA last time which didn't help as she was unfamiliar with our team. I was trying to get the players to look for our GA who was often free but I think she was playing too close to the goal circle which made things a bit crowded. I think also that once my players realised what the GD was doing, they started to hesitate on the pass.Our GS is reasonably tall and has a good hold so if we can get a good high pass into her before the GD can drop back that may help.Any other suggestions? I am coaching a little net set go team (set tier) with ages 5-8. Usually I coach high school girls. A mum of one of the 7 yr olds just messaged me with this: "i was just wondering If you have any tips to help us get Miss S enthused about netball, she isn't enjoying it but wants to "give it more time" (her words)." We only have a half hour training session before we play as no one else will coach but this is the only time I can do training and there are players from another town so this is the best option for everyone. We play a couple of warm up drills/games and practice 1 skill ready for our game. I have covered the basics of passing and footwork so far. None of my team have ever played before, but 4 of them did the net set go - net tier last year. The girl has only played 2 games so far as we have had a bye. So far she has had a go at positions GK, GD, GS, GA, and WA. She is the tallest girl in the team and so tends to get a fair amount of the ball. Any ideas on what to suggest to this mum?

What a fantastic tool. The Chalkboard and session tools make an unbelievable difference in making training plans in both time and organization. I will be instructing all of my assistant coaches that this tool must be used for all sessions during the season, so that we may build a club coaching resource library.
