Hi Bernadette,

The free pass is taken where the infringement occurred and the pass can be taken by any player allowed in that area.

Some of the reasons to give a free pass are offside, footwork, a held ball (the ball must be released within 3 seconds).

When there is a free pass for the ball being thrown over a complete third, the free pass is awarded at the point the ball crossed over the transverse line it was not allowed over.

Hope this helps!
