Whats the best way to teach getting free to link up with Centre on Attack?
no too sure what you mean with this quesiton. there are a number of drills on here about getting free and teaching preliminary moves, dodge, double dodge, spin, straight lead, change of speed, change of direction ect. if you are looking to teaching how to open up the court, so that there is room for the players to break into, and where they should be running, then teach them to zig zag passes down the court and then run into the space that has been left by the previous player (lead and follow techniques).
is this what you mean?
I worked it out while I was coaching :) I can teach them dodge, double dodge, change of pace and direction etc but it wasn't until I asked them if the move doesn't work what do you do? "Drive to the Centre for the pass" one girl answered Then I asked what are we trying to achieve on attacking the centre pass? Another answered" fake a movement or trick the defender to get free for the pass" Smart girls, answered what I wanted and it was for them to work out not me, I give them the tools and ask the right question. I guess my question should have been, how do we teach them to think for themselves? answer-ask the right questions
Thanks for your help :)
good to hear. and you are completely correct about sometimes it isnt that they dont know what to do, its just that they havent worked out when they had to do it.
