I have thoroughly enjoyed using your site to help me with my coaching plans for my under 9's netball team.
Hi I am a first year coach of a 9 and under team.My girls are struggling with the concept of running to space and receiving a pass on the move while advancing the ball to our attacking third. It seems no matter how hard i try to implement drills for passing at practice, come game day the girls still group together and call for the ball standing still. Any ideas/drills anyone could suggest would be greatly appreciated. Regards Mark
Hi, my team is having issues breaking a defensive zone where the GD and GK sit high in our attack end and play an area rather than players, we tried manning up on them but just crowded the attack end and didn't work? If we lob over them the other defender drops back and picks up the intercept, same when we pass to the corners. Any advice will be gratefully received! Cheers Keli
Can anyone please give me some training ideas for defending the lob pass? Back in my days (too many ago to mention) we were taught to stand off and slightly to the side of the attack to discourage the lob being made. I haven't found much on the internet to help me with this one
How do you teach GK and GD to talk? I know I need to teach my 14yr olds to communicate in the circle, but what exactly should they be saying? And how do I teach them to switch partners in the circle when they need to rather than getting caught out focussing too much on one player? They're an awesome pair, and I think if we can address these two issues, they will be scary good. Thanks for any help. Heather.
I have a child on my team who is a good little player but she is being left out during the transport of the ball from the defence end to the attack end. She runs in line with the ball but passes to her get intercepted as she is running away from and not to the ball. The others don't see her most of the time and don't look for her
What is the best way for players 11-13 to mitigate the affect of open players using their elbows. It is brought to the umpires attention and they do their best. However, I have in the last few weeks heard 2 different coaches (when I was observing games - hence I could hear the coach) give instructions to her players to "use elbows and intimidate". Seems a growing trend based on what a lot of players are doing on court in a range of teams. Defensively my players are starting to shy away from staying close to their oppn player. When on attack - I tell them to keep moving so the oppn defense can't set up on them and use the elbow. The poor GS particularly is getting really knocked about a lot of time as she is trying to execute a hold sometimes.
To give my girls practice at a game I would like to know how to set them up on half a court and what the rules are please
How do you get the Goal Defence staying with the Goal Attack, especially when the Goal Attack drops down behind the Goal Defence and gets the ball all the time in the Goal Circle? How do you get the Defence in the Goal Circle to rebound and how do you get the Goal Shooters following their shot and rebound?
I have a team of ten players I want the best way to rotate them fairly over a 14 week game schedule.
what's a game that grade 5 6 students will like. it's really hard to come up with games that is teaching them netball and also is fun. one of my coaching partners plays netball but she doesn't really give me any ideas. i don't think they play games at the club she is at. Can you please give some ideas of a game that is fun and easy to teach.Thankyou!!!!
How do you get players to respond to one of their team members intercepting a ball. I find when someone intercepts, the team does not make leads quick enough and we end up throwing the intercept away.Any drills to practice this?
Hi there, this weekend my team is Coming up against a team with a very strong Goal Attack. What are some strategies we can use to stop the Goal Attack? Any advice would be appreciated.
HiWe have our U16's trials coming up. I haven't coached or selected this age group as yet. What would you look at in ability and skill level for U16's?
Hi Everyone I've been playing defence for a long time now, and only last Saturday did I start to play centre. It was during our warm up on that day, (before our game) when my coach told me that I would be playing centre. I agreed to do it, but the problem was that the other team was a really good and very fit team. I struggled a lot durig the game, and i felt like i was dying the whole time! Also because I had never played centre before I didn't know how to feed the ball into the goal circle. I also don't know how to defend on the goal circle. Also what is the centres main job? Thanks so much for all the help! Asked using Sportplan Mobile App
Defence stop the attack from hitting top of the circle - any drills to combat that in the attacks favour?
Our new season starts in September. When planning do coaches plan for the entire season? The first four sessions? The first three months? Also do you start with maybe four sessions on defence then four on attack? Or do you mix it up?
I am a wing attack and don't now how to intercept

Can a GD or GK have their body touching the bodies of their opposing GS and GA if no one has yet received the ball?
I need some clarification please. In the goal circle if GS steps in towards the goal post and lifts her grounded foot, where does the defender defend from if the shooter stepped in before the defender lifted her arms? Is the 3ft from where her grounded foot was or where she stepped in to?
