GD Staying with GA. Rebounds by Defence & Attack?

How do you get the Goal Defence staying with the Goal Attack, especially when the Goal Attack drops down behind the Goal Defence and gets the ball all the time in the Goal Circle? How do you get the Defence in the Goal Circle to rebound and how do you get the Goal Shooters following their shot and rebound?

practice practice practice when it comes to following the ball in.  you can make a game between 2-4 players that they have to basically attempt a shot and they get a point for each shot.  to get the ball they have to get the ball from the shot or missed shot.  you could also do this as a game with points scored from rebounds only or a combo of both.  up to you.

as for your GD falling for the GA actually defending them in the circle and the GA getting a lob in.  this is a well drilled team you are coming up against.  this is where the shooters know to defend the defence (as all good shooters should be doing BEFORE they get ANY pass), and the defence not knowing how to get out of it.  make your GD aware of what is going on, and to have them actively trying to get back in control in the circle and defending the shooters.  have them in a side on position or behind if you want the shooters to shoot from a distance but a good defence needs to understand what is going on and adjust their defence accordingly.  if you have a short shooter then defend from in front or side.  a tall shooter then from the side or behind, and same height then it will depend on what type of shooter they are (ie are they good at long shots and not close in then be in front to try and get intercepts, if only shoots from close in then defend from behind to force the long shot and get the rebounds)  netball is a thinking game, and we need to have our players adjusting to the type of defence and attack that is against them.  good luck.
