How do you teach Gk and GD to talk?

How do you teach GK and GD to talk? I know I need to teach my 14yr olds to communicate in the circle, but what exactly should they be saying? And how do I teach them to switch partners in the circle when they need to rather than getting caught out focussing too much on one player? They're an awesome pair, and I think if we can address these two issues, they will be scary good. Thanks for any help.

Heather.

the switch is the code i use when switching partners.  the idea of teaching switching, is teaching them to defend a space and not a player.  so divide the circle (or any area) into halves, and have 1 attack player moving from side to side through the 2 halves.  when she leaves one player, then that player calls swtich, and the other player knows to pick her up.  once they get use to the concept, then add another attack player.  once they get really good at that, add one more attack player so attack outweighs the defence.  that really makes them mark space and not players.  you can then put on other players around the edge of the circle and introduce a ball into play.

the main key words i use in the circle (and this is for your shooters as well are), base, top, cross, switch.

these are to indicate where you need a player to go, or the ball.  ie when im a shooter, and im defending my player to one side of the court and i need the ball to go to the other side of the circle, i call CROSS, and then i drive to that spot and take the next pass from my wing.  if im defending a player on the base line, and i need my other defence to defend at the top of the circle for that is where i can see the attack going to, ill call TOP.  make sense?

let me know how you go.
