How do you get players to respond to one of their team members intercepting a ball. I find when someone intercepts, the team does not make leads quick enough and we end up throwing the intercept away.Any drills to practice this?
The best way to encourage your team to respond to an interception is by working on the full teams reactions at switching from defence to attack. During a game of half court try using a whistle and randomly blow it to indicate a turnover and therefore a switch from attack to defence. It is important to do full court attacking drills so that defenders are comfortable and confident to attack as well as defend. If the team tend to panic, ensure someone always offers a square pass to slow the pace and panic of the game.
