To give my girls practice at a game I would like to know how to set them up on half a court and what the rules are please
ps...if you only have 7 players, you can just tell your center she works for both teams, so that if the attack has the ball she plays for them, if the defence has the ball, then she players for that team.
you need 8 players and 2 sets of bibs. you have every position covered and 2 centers (one for each side). all the defence players and one center, and all the attack players and a center. starting on a center pass, the aim is for the attack team to get a goal and the defence team to stop them. if the defence team intercepts play continues until they get the ball past the halfway mark of the court and then the game restarts. all other rules apply as normal. its not about winning or losing, its about picking an area you wish to concentrate on, which might be preliminary moves, running into space, running towards the ball, ect...and making that the focus. you can start and stop the game any time you like to explain what they could have done better or let them know they are doing it right. you could even impliment your own rule if they dont do the skill you are wanting to focus on, then the ball gets turned over to the other team. but thats up to you on what you, but as we all know that during game time kids tend to return to what they have always done, so pulling them up during a half court game is a great way to get them to focus on what they need to improve on.
hope that helps.
