Defender in the middle

Players work in groups of 4, with 3 attackers forming a triangle, standing 1.5 meters apart and one defender stood in the middle. The ball is passed in any direction between the 3 attackers. The defender must use fast feet to follow the passes and try to intercept the ball.

Interception

Down the court with defenders.

Position two lines of opposing players along the court in a straight line. The GK faces the back wall, away from the court, throws the ball up in the air, rotates and releases to the next player. The next player must drive into space to receive the pass. Place any number of static defenders dotted around the court (6/8/9 players) while performing the above drill. Once the ball has reached the end of the court you can change the roles around and the static defenders now become the passing team and vice versa.

Decision making

In pairs shooting

2 players 1 ball 1 post. The player at the top of the circle starts with the ball and passes it to the other player to receive it back under the post. to take a shot . After the shot the other player moves to the top of the circle to receive the ball and the shooter moves wide out of the circle. The practice then starts again.

Interception Circle

Maximum of 8 players form the outside of a circle with 2 defenders inside and 1 ball. Defenders have to work together to intercept the ball and should communicate to each other by calling who is marking the ball and who is marking the space in order to work more effectively.

Outside Roll

Blue player 2 starts with the ball and the other two players set up a few meters away, with the defender marking B1. When everyone is ready: B1 should make a forward run and then perform an outside roll, spinning 360 degrees before then running into space and receive the pass.

Pass and move in opposite direction

Players pass the ball clock wise. After each pass the player runs to touch the cone of the player in the opposite direction they passed to and then runs back to their own cone.

Pivot and Pass

Split your players into groups of 4 with one ball. Each group forms 2 lines. The front person from the 1st line (red player) runs out to receive ball from the blue player at the front of the other line. After receiving the ball they pivot and throw to the next person in their line. Players then sprint to rejoin the back of their line. Repeat Try to get this activity to be free flowing and continuous

Movement

Rotating and turning Pass

Players line up in 2 lines facing each other. Blue player 1 throws to Blue player 3 who runs forwards to meet the pass. Blue player 3 turns and passes to Blue player 4, and then runs on to join the line behind Blue player 2. Blue player 4 then throws to Blue player 1 who runs forwards to meet pass, Blue player 1 turns and passes to Blue player 2. Blue player 1 then runs behind Blue player 4 etc. Drill continues...

Warm ups

Three players perform this drill with two balls. Two players stand by the post with a ball each, while the third player is stood outside of the circle. Player one shoots and then collects the ball, before player two passes the ball to the players who is outside of the circle, who then returns the ball to player two outside of the circle. Player three then moves in towards the post to receive the final pass in the sequence, and shoots before collecting the ball. Player one in the mean time, starts the same pass sequence with player two, who is now the new player outside the circle, and the drill continues in this fashion.

Form two lines side by side (A RED and A BLUE) Set up 3 feeders in a triangular shape The player at the front of the BLUE queue will start with the ball They will pass the ball to the first feeder (1) they will then follow their pass and drive around the back of the feeder to re offer for the next ballAt the same time the player at the front of the RED queue will drive straight and receieve the ball from the first feeeder (2)RED will then pass to the feeder straight ahead (3) and follow their pass, moving around that feeder Feeder 2 will pass the ball to BLUE who will have driven around the first feeder to recieve a straight ball (4) BLUE will then pass off to the third feeder (5) and follow their pass, going around the back of the feeder and re join the opposite queue RED will have driven around feeder 2 and will receive the ball from the third feeder (6) they will then pass the ball to the next player at the front of the BLUE queue

Set Up: half court area, 12+ players, 8 balls. 4 stations each with 1 worker and 2 feeders with a ball each. A wall is required at station 4. Station 1: 2 feeders, each passing short sharp balls to a worker who is running side to side receiving and passing the ball. x8 reps and then worker to move to next station. Station 2: 2 feeders, feeder 1 delivering a loose, short pass, worker to receive and pass back, then drive back for a long pass from feeder 2. x8 reps and then worker to move to next station. Station 3: 2 feeders, Short pass from feeder 1, short pass from feeder 2, medium pass from feeder 1 and then a long pass from feeder 2. x8 reps and then worker to move to next station. Station 4: 2 feeders, two short flat passes alternating between feeders, one long pass from feeder 1, worker turns and passes to the wall, catches and returns the ball to feeder 1. x8 reps and then worker to move to next station.When workers have been to each station, swap with a feeder and repeat.

10+ players, 5+ balls, half court area.1. Half of the players stand in a star/circle shape, these are the feeders.2. Each feeding player has a partner who stands next to them to start, these are the workers.3. Each feeder has a ball.4. Workers drive into the middle and recieve a pass from the feeder two people away. i.e. they skip a person.5. Worker passes back to the line they have come from and drives towards the feeder who delivers a short bounce pass. 6. The feeder continues to drive around the worker and recives a long pass into the middle.7. Worker passes the ball back out to initial feeder who passes the ball back.8. Worker skips another feeder and passes to them, then joins the line.

Rugby Netball Warm Up - Rugby ...

Break your players into two teams. One team goes to attack, and one to defence. There is no kicking in this game. Normal laws of rugby do not apply e.g. the ball can be passed in any direction. The ball is passed from player to player, but once the ball is caught - the ball carrier must stop moving. They can move only to pass the ball to another player. The defenders can close down attackers, working to remove attacking options. Defenders can intercept the ball, but must leave the ball carrier alone once the ball is cause. They can apply pressure on the pass, similar to the pressure that a bastleball player might apply (but consider using this as a progression). Tries can be scored by attackers who catch the ball inside the oppositions in goal area. Dropped balls result in a turn over.

Set up: Five cones set up as a square with one cone in the center, 1 ball, 4-6 players.Two feeding players are set up in between cones in line with the center cone.Two attacking players start on the centre cone and choose a corner cone to drive out to, each driving to opposite cones.Attackers time their drive so they receive their pass on the centre cone.Attackers are to create a ‘bow’ shape by driving to the outer cones one at a time and receiving a pass on the middle cone between each drive.

Set up 9 cones in a square in the middle of a third.Two teams of 3 are lined up on the sidelines of the third, with each player holding the colour bib of their team in their hand.They will play a game of noughts and crosses (tic tac toe).Each player will run forward and place their bib on a cone. They first team to form a 3 bib line (diagonal, horizontal, vertical) of their teams colours wins a point.<em>Rule: Teams are not allowed to place their bibs in a line on the closest row as this makes it too easy.</em>If neither team has won from the initial run in then players can move their own team's bibs continually until one team wins.If you have bigger teams, number your players and call 3 numbers out to start. They can then run back to the sideline to tag another player in to move a bib.

Can anyone help in the best way to do a rotation form.At them moment I have a list with names and positions then each week I just move the name down to the next position so they play that position for the entire game and the resting players alternate eg with C or WD or GK each quarter.
