I coach a player who practices shooting basically every day but cannot get them in when she is playing. The problem isn't to do with her technique but rather her confidence in her abilities is lacking. How can I build her confidence?
Hi Maggie,
Is she practicing shooting in a match scenario or is it uncontested shooting practice? Getting players to practice shooting under pressure in training will improve their ability to replicate this in match situations.

Hi Maggie,
Following on from Matt's answer. The main thing you can do is repetition to fully engrain the skill and build confidence through repeated success. It is also really important to replicate game situations, players maybe put under pressure or become tired during a game.
Here's a great drill I found that gets your shooters working under fatigue, by being able to produce a successful outcome when tired your players will find it easier come match day.
Hope this helps,
Archie

Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
