Attacking rebound drill

Players toss the ball up on the backboard for themselves to then catch on the rebound. After catching the rebound players should go back up and this time try to score. Lastly players collect their ball and pass it to the next player.

Champion Rebound - Winner stays on

Three rebounders all stand inside the key. The coach tosses the ball up for the 1st three players to battle for the rebound. The player that catches the ball is the attacker the remaining two players then try to stop the attacker from scoring.

Diamond Tag

Setup the practice as shown. White player 1 and Blue Player 1 begin to dribble in a diamond shape as shown. One must try and catch up with the other to tag them. Keep score.

Player 2 makes an L shaped cut and then sprints to receive the ball from player 1, who then catches the ball, pivots and shoots.

In pairs one player starts with a ball, with their partner starts opposite them. The player with the ball throws the ball to the cone on either the right or left. The receiving player moves to catch the ball before throwing the ball back to the passer.

Pairs Tag

Everyone starts with a ball and finds a partner. Each pair will need a ball each and they have to dribble around within a suitable area whilst holding the hand of their partner. The coach nominates people to be the catchers. These people can dribble around freely (without having to link arms) and try and tag someone. If they do then the person they tag becomes a catcher and they take their place.

Phantom Fundamental Drill (ii)

Players v-cut their way up and down the court, with their up in front of their chest (ready to catch an imaginary pass). Take 2-3 paces to the right and (cut) change direction and speed, then 2-3 paces to the left etc.In addition to this, when players hear the whistle blow they must stop as quickly as possible. A one count stop is executed. On the second blast of the whistle players can continue to v-cut their way up the court.

Phantom Fundamentals Drill (i)

Players v-cut their way up and down the court, with their up in front of their chest (ready to catch an imaginary pass). Take 2-3 paces to the right and (cut) change direction and speed, then 2-3 paces to the left etc. Player should be on balance at all times.

Rebound Chaos

Four teams of three rebounders The coach tosses the ball up for the 1st three players to battle for the rebound. The player that catches the ball is the attacker, and the remaining two players then try to stop the attacker from scoring. The 1st player to make 2 baskets moves to the end of their line. The winner is the 1st team to get all 3 players through.

Shooting - First to 21

Players line up outside the key in two lines, with one ball per line. The first player to run must shoot as soon as they enter the key. If they score their team get 2 points, if they miss but catch the rebound before it hits the floor and then score their team gets 1 point. If they miss altogether their team gets no points. The winning team is the one which gets to 21 points first.

Legs bent, hold the ball between the legs, one hand around the back of one leg, the other in front of the other, like in the image. Release the ball, imparting slight upward momentum. Rotate the torso to catch the ball with the alternate arms behind the leg and in front.

Hold the ball out in front of you in 2 hands. Throw the ball between your legs and catch it behind you in 2 hands. Torso and legs should remain still.

Stand upright with the ball behind your neck.<BR>Let the ball go and catch it behind the back.

Stand with feet apart. Throw the ball in the air above the head. Let the ball fall to the floor. Catch it in two hands just after the ball bounces.

Players stand 10 feet apart. The basketballs will be passed back and forth to each other. The player must control the basketball with the hand the ball was passed to.

Whilst dribbling one ball forwards 5m, throw another ball up and catch it in the other hand. Start slowly and build up speed. Forces the player to keep their eyes up.

Stand with feet shoulder width apart and hold the ball in front with both hands at the level of your chest.<BR>Drop theball, clap your hands behind your back and catch the ball before it bounces.

With feet apart, holding the ball with 2 hands between the legs with one hand behing the leg and the other in front, let the ball bounce.Rotate the torso to alternate which hand is in fron of the legs and which one is behind, cathcing the ball after it has bounced once.

One defending player is trying to catch the player in possession of the ball. Players in possession of the ball can not move. Players without the ball can move though to make themselves available to receive the pass. If a player is caught whilst in possession of the ball they must now become the catcher and the drill starts again.

Players stand 20 feet apart. Players pass over hand and must control the ball with the hand the ball was passed to.

Stand 1m to 2m away from the wall. Throw one ball against the wall for it to bounce back to the other hand. Catch the rebounding ball in the other hand having transferred the other ball to the throwing hand. Repeat.

After having caught the ball players should land solidly on both feet before then selecting which way they are going to pivot in order to shield and protect the ball from the imaginary defender.

Player 1 will pass the ball to player 2.Player 1 will cut around the cone and down towards the next cone where they will receive the ball from player 2. Once the ball has been received, player 1 will dribble towards the baseline and shoot.The players will then switch lines.

Stand about 10 feet away from the wall, the ball starts off in either hand. You will take a bounce then pass it with one hand off the wall and catch it with your other hand. This will be repeated back and forth.

Basketball: Footwork pivoting ...

Blue 1 moves to the middle to receive a pass from red 1, as they catch the ball they must land with either a jump stop or a stride stop. Blue 1 then pivots on the correct foot to face the line they came from. They then pass to the next player in line. Blue 1 then pivots again to face where the pass came from and runs to join the back of that line. The drill is then repeated. Ensure the players catch the ball in the air. Younger and inexperienced players tend to catch the ball then perform a jump/stride stop. The player in the middle must perform a pivot with the ball. If they land with a stride stop they must not move the foot that landed first.
