Hi, has anyone got any good drills for ensuring players keep watching the ball?! the defense have worked a lot on their marking,body postions/footwork etc but often when the ball is inside the circle they are so busy watching their player their heads drop slightly and they forget about the ball!! i've tried periphiral vision drill on here but doesnt seem to be sinking in in matches esp if against quick shooters! any tips would be great! %3A)

Help me please, I am coaching 11 yrs and have one member of my team who is making nasty comments towards most of my other team members, before I am forced to raise this issue with her parent (who is never in attendance, only drop off and pick up, and I dont think she would be the easiest parent to deal with either) I am hoping someone can give me some ideas on how to deal with this, should I ask her to sit out or should I try to include her more to force a better relationship, when I have asked her if we can make an effort to play as a team she is clearly telling me, Its not her fault and that she is reacting to others, but i know this is not true, I dont think she will except she is doing anything wrong, if fact she is my biggest trouble maker when it comes to talking, not litening and being disrespectful, to me her team and once even an umpire (at training) HELP PLEASE its upsetting my girls %3A(

Hi, I am new to coaching, but have played all my life.I have taken on a team of 13 year olds this year, and am enjoying it. I have a few challenges, but the main one is that one of my key players, GK, has ADD/ADHD. She is the tallest girl on the team, and would be so effective if she just tried. She doesn't try. She doesn't engage with me or the other players. I have given her plenty of positive feedback, in the hopes that she will be boosted by that, I even partnered with her tonight at our training session, just to see how she would go. In the warm up with me, she was great, kept up and stayed enthused. When we started running drills and working on different things, she just doesn't even appear to be engaged. I know she is medicated when she comes to training, but I need her to switch on in a game situation. At the end of our training sessions, we always play a small game, and she just loses her enthusiasm and just doesn't try. I'm looking for ways to help and encourage her. Any ideas or suggestions welcome!!
Our new season starts in September. When planning do coaches plan for the entire season? The first four sessions? The first three months? Also do you start with maybe four sessions on defence then four on attack? Or do you mix it up?
Hello - i am looking for a few GD tips on the best way to defend a shooter that receives the ball a couple of ways as i always struggle to get around them when they do these moves! First way is that the shooter lunges out very wide (practically doing the splits) to receive the ball from the feeder on the circle edge and steps back closer to the net with the foot that is closest. I can defend her getting close to the net, but then she turns to the feeder and jumps and splits - thus always ending up close to the net. The second way is when the shooter stays quite stationery under the net, a couple of foot off the back line and holds her space there. she receives the ball by a large over head pass, so she steps back slightly on one leg to receive the ball from the feeder. what would be the best way to defend all the large overhead long passes to her, or draw her out? any help or some ideas i can try would be great! thank you :-)
I was playing GS today and marked by a very tall GK. As I was watching the ball come forward, I moved to the top of the D but she didn't stay with me and remained behind me. I couldn't see her and was unsure if I should stay close to her to be aware of where I could move, or to just move where I wanted. My back was turned to her as I was facing where the ball was, should I be side on to see her in my peripheral vision but not stay with her, or should I keep marking her to hold her then come forward when appropriate? I would be grateful for any advice, thank you,

Hi everyone, I'm a GS/GA and I shoot well but I struggle to make opportunities for myself to shoot in games. It is slightly better when I play GS if i stay in the circle, but when I play GA or come out, it has happened that I haven't shot at all. I either get blocked from going in the circle straight away or am too slow to position myself. Could anyone give me some pointers about basic movement? I have watching videos where players roll/cut - if a player is marking you face on and blocking you from entering the D, would that be how I get around them? I'm a short GA (5'3) and I can shoot decently from mid range and short range (although mid range is where I prefer shooting from). I'd like to get better at long range shooting, but I'm not really sure how. I can get in long goals sometimes when I'm practicing at the post but during training with a defender (who is tall), it is a very hard task. During matches, it's closer to impossible, although I've gotten the occasional long goal in because the defender decided to stand for a rebound instead of marking haha. But I'd like to be able to get these goals in consistently [over a defender] â not just because it was a lucky shot. Any tips on how? It'd be appreciated.
