Defending a shooter who steps in

I need some clarification please. In the goal circle if GS steps in towards the goal post and lifts her grounded foot, where does the defender defend from if the shooter stepped in before the defender lifted her arms? Is the 3ft from where her grounded foot was or where she stepped in to?

Combat a good GA opposition

Looking for ideas or strategies to combat a really quick and accurate GA. Cant let her run the whole court as she will get every second pass and still shoots 90% of the other teams goals. Our defence can only keep up after half time when she starts to tire. We should be able to beat them if we can combat this one very good player.

how to protect yourself as gs/ga from defense in circle

I was playing GS today and marked by a very tall GK. As I was watching the ball come forward, I moved to the top of the D but she didn't stay with me and remained behind me. I couldn't see her and was unsure if I should stay close to her to be aware of where I could move, or to just move where I wanted. My back was turned to her as I was facing where the ball was, should I be side on to see her in my peripheral vision but not stay with her, or should I keep marking her to hold her then come forward when appropriate? I would be grateful for any advice, thank you,

Rules question: Causing contac...

After my opponent release the ball can I use my body but not arms to block in front of her so as to prevent her from going to the front?( In centre third) If the opponent just run ahead and crash on the defender, is it a contact?Or in fact the action of the defender preventing the attacker to run towards goal third is obstruction or a rule called" causing contact"?

GD defending a GS that stepped...

I had a GS that would step in everytime to take a shot, the GD would hold her ground and continue to defend the ball (3 feet from the original landed foot), however the GD would then reach with her arms to the ball above the GShooters head where the GS in the act of trying to get clear of the GD would hit the ball against the GD hand. I didn’t call anything however my question is if the ball is forced by the GS into the GD hand is this a penalty? The other occurrence that happened was when the GS stepped in on another occasion, she was physically touching/on top of the GD, I didn’t think the GD was in the wrong as she was 3 feet, did the GD have to reshuffle so she was not touching or is this a penalty on the GS?

One troublesome team member, c...

Help me please, I am coaching 11 yrs and have one member of my team who is making nasty comments towards most of my other team members, before I am forced to raise this issue with her parent (who is never in attendance, only drop off and pick up, and I dont think she would be the easiest parent to deal with either) I am hoping someone can give me some ideas on how to deal with this, should I ask her to sit out or should I try to include her more to force a better relationship, when I have asked her if we can make an effort to play as a team she is clearly telling me, Its not her fault and that she is reacting to others, but i know this is not true, I dont think she will except she is doing anything wrong, if fact she is my biggest trouble maker when it comes to talking, not litening and being disrespectful, to me her team and once even an umpire (at training) HELP PLEASE its upsetting my girls %3A(

difficult player distracting t...

I have a particular player who disrupts training constantly, she doesnt concentrate and undermines me often, she chooses which part of training she wants to do and refuses to do the rest, if forced to do it she sulks and puts the whole team into a mood. I need an approach with her that will get her attention at training and her respect.

What makes a good defender? - ...

What makes a good netball defender? Whether it be WD, GD, GK.Also, how do you know what defending position is good for you? Right now, I am really struggling to know where I stand as a defender. Sometimes my coach puts me as WD or GK but I do not know which one I am better at.

What a fantastic tool. The Chalkboard and session tools make an unbelievable difference in making training plans in both time and organization. I will be instructing all of my assistant coaches that this tool must be used for all sessions during the season, so that we may build a club coaching resource library.
