I have thoroughly enjoyed using your site to help me with my coaching plans for my under 9's netball team.
When coaching first timers (U11) I am focussing on trying to get the basics of passing, catching, footwork and creating space right but do you think I should be pushing them harder and with more tricky drills or keep sticking to the core basics first - some are taking a while to get solid with these basics! Don't want to turn them off our beautiful game! Any good ideas to get the girls to learn basics would be welcomed - I am trying everything!!
My girls are winning almost all of their games and have even moved up a grade. I am now struggling to think of ideas and ways to keep them going. Any Ideas Please????
How does a coach keep training sessions fun, complex, educational and entertaining enough to keep the older girls interested and for the younger girls to keep up? And some training sessions have less than 10 girls (easy to handle) and some can have maybe over 30. Only ONE of these teams (a group of 9) are mine and the other 20-odd are from at least 4 other teams in the club.
I would like to do a fun session with my 17 year old as we are at the bottom of the ladder and will not make finals now.
Hi all, My daughter is about to start coaching for the first time and it's expected she'll have a group of 10 years olds in C or D grade. I'm struggling to remember what her capabilities were at that age and she's looking for some suggestions for drills to start off with until she gets a handle on where they're at. Is anyone currently working with kids around that age/ability bracket? Does anyone know if any of the weekly drills are aimed at beginners/introductory levels? From the ones I'm seen, they're aimed at an intermediate level so I'm assuming some of the games would be OK, but most of the drills would be beyond their capability. Thanks in advance.
Is there a way to change settings or somewhere to search for age appropriate drills etc? I am coaching an U9 team so a lot of drills appear too complex for them. Thanks in advance
Saving individual drills to PDF would be extremely helpful!
Hi there we are through to the semi finals this weekend. Our team got pulled up many times for Stepping and contact and I would like to focus on this in our training session tomorrow - they are U10's so nothing to complex please
I need to strengthen the positioning of my defenders
Hi everyone, i was wondering if anyone has any good flying interception drills that can be progressed and overloaded? Need some drills for my GCSE PE!
Would love some advice, I am a new coach about to start coaching 7-8 year olds who have never played netball before. I would love any advice you have for a new coach on how to structure the training session, any drills I should start with and fun ways to teach them the basic skills of netball
how to apply progression

How can you make under 13s, under 15s, and under 17s training different as some players play on more than 1 team.
Hello, it will be my first time ever doing something netball related specifically coaching so I was just wondering if I could get help starting and initiating plans. I am experienced in Basketball so I am hoping this will help with drills and excerise.
Hi As a new couch to U9 team, wondering where I can filter the drills just to get the ones suitable for younger players. A lot seem way too complex for the basics my team of young ones is just developing - and we are also playing a bit of catchup to get up to where some of the other teams are at, because a lot of the other teams did NetSetgo etc. My team are all new to the sport and doing a great job I must say! But basic drills would be great for the 30 mins a week we have to practice. Thanks!
I have coached for the past 2 seasons, with my teams not having a lot of success. I am hoping that I can coach again for a third season. I want to improve my coaching skills and knowledge over the offseason, so if I am given the chance I can be the best coach that I can be and hopefully lead a team to success.
I'm new to coaching (u11's). Had 1st training last night, was using my folder with drills from this site & a mum (who's daughter is new to netball) kept asking if I need help then was shouting instructions to her daughter from sideline for whole session & even got on court to instruct her. At end of training the mum said she can train the daughter on weekends as she was a state player & is a FFA coach??). Other mums were upset , said "does she realise her daughters not only girl on court", advice please? Asked using Sportplan on Mobile
Hi, I'm co-coaching an U13 team. The players are a mix of experienced, but mostly inexperienced players, with a couple of players who are really talented (these are two of our inexperienced players). All players are new to each other. The girls won every game at the district grading days and we were upgraded two levels. We are now in round 6 of the competition and the girls have lost every game and we just lost from the team that was below them on the ladder. We've had a couple of injuries and one was quite bad in round 4 requiring surgery which has shaken the girls as well. They are starting to lose heart and their game is deteriorating. How do we keep them motivated?
i am confused about shoulder pass being a closed skill or an open skill.
in more ways than one
No more 50/50 toss-ups. When simultaneous infringements occur, possession now goes to the team that last had the ball. Here's what it means for your coaching.
Train your defenders to win clean turnovers, not just disrupt. The difference between good defenders and great ones is taking the ball, not just touching it.
