Netball: 4 corner drill - Spor...

Minimum of 8 players with 2 balls (balls start on diagonally opposite corners). Players 1 and 3 run to their left towards the player that is going to feed the ball to them. Before reaching the player who is going to feed them the ball the receiving player should make a sharp dash towards the centre to receive the ball, accelerating as they do so. Once the ball is received the player passes it to the player diagonally across from where they started and follows their pass and joins the back of the queue. The drill continues.

5 vs 5 or 7 vs 7 depending on numbersSet up 4 boxes as shown in the diagram, ~3m x 3m each.The Attackers start with the ball in one of the boxes. Their aim is to get to the opposite box using passing. They are allowed into the other boxes but will only score if they get the ball to the opposite box.If the Defenders successfully intercept they can start in a box and do the same thing.

Split players into pairs with one ball between them. The worker (player 2) drives from the centre to a cone and then back to the centre again to receive the ball from the feeder (player 1). The worker then passes back to the feeder and repeats. Each worker repeats this 10 times before changing over.

Set up: Four corners of about 2-3 players, 1/3 space, 2 balls.Balls start in opposing corners. Balls and player will be moving in an anti-clockwise rotation. Players from the corner without a ball drive on a diagonal into the third space and receive a pass from player with ball in front of them (corner to their right). Ball is received then passed on to the player at next corner, in anticlockwise direction. Player who drove joins the line they passed the ball to.The ball continues to rotate anticlockwise.

4 Attackers with one ball stand on four corners of the square, they are not allowed to move from their cones. To start with include 3 defenders. These players must move around the area trying to intercept passes from the attackers by driving into the space between the passer and the receiver. If a defender attempts to intercept the ball and fails and is out of position as a result one of the other defenders should spot the gap and endeavour to cover the space.

Player 1 runs to the cone in the centre. On reaching it the player should make an explosive movement to either side of the cone (running in the direction of one of the outside cones). The feeder (player 2) then feeds the ball into player 1. Players swap roles and repeat.

Designated players (catchers) attempt to tag other players. Once tagged players must stand still. Tagged players may only be released by catching a ball.

4 players in a square ( cones can be used ) players pass the ball clockwise around the 4 corners of the square. After each pass the player follows the ball to the next corner and turns to return to receive the ball by the original corner when the ball comes round again. All players should be moving before they receive the ball.

Player 1 (centre ) passes the ball to Player 2 (GA) who has to make a move to cut free. As player 2 receives the ball player 3 (WA) should also make a cut and run to receive the ball at the top of the circle. Player 4 (GS) runs in and out to receive the ball under the basket and shoots to score from close. Every player follows their own pass and becomes that position for the next ball. GS comes back to the centre and joins the back of the queue.

Each feeding player has a partner who stands next to them to start, these are the workers.3. Each feeder has a ball.4. Workers drive into the middle and recieve a pass from the feeder two people away. i.e. they skip a person.5. Worker passes back to the line they have come from and drives towards the feeder who delivers a short bounce pass. 6. The feeder continues to drive around the worker and recives a long pass into the middle.7. Worker passes the ball back out to initial feeder who passes the ball back.8. Worker skips another feeder and passes to them, then joins the line.

4 players line up, each standing on a corner of the square with one player stood between two cones with the ball. The drill starts when the player with the ball passes the ball diagonally, anti-clockwise, with a chest/ shoulder pass to the next player who is running forward to receive the pass. After they have passed the ball the players should stand on the next cone. This player then passes diagonally to the next player before running to the next cone.

In one third of the court split your players into groups of 9 with one ball. Coach starts the practice. Each player at the front of the line (in turn) moves out to then drive onto the flat fast pass. They then pass the ball on to the next player in the sequence. Each player after having passed the ball goes to the back of their original line. Definite drive (no dithering)!

Pass and DriveSet up: 1 ball, shooting third, 4 lines of playersThe ball starts with player on middle of transverse line (A).Player from the line midway down sideline (B), drives in front of A to receive a pass.Player B passes from middle of the third/top of the circle on a diagonal out to player standing at the corner of transverse and sideline intersection (C). Player B joins line player C is from. Player C delivers ball to a player (D) who has driven from baseline corner to the edge of the circle. At the same time player D drove out, another player (E) from the same line drives into the circle. Player D delivers ball to player E in the circle. Players D and E act as WA/C and GS/GA feeding in and out of circle. Player E may choose to put up a shot. Player E delivers ball back to starting point A.

A good game for finishing sessions as it is short and fast paced. Play twice for 4 minutes at a time. Play with normal rules, however each time an error is made the player must leave the court and do 5 press ups before then coming back into play to rejoin the game.
