Excellent drills, very detailed videos. Useful site for my U15 boys team.
Could you please fully explain what 'Support play' is and give examples of where it can be used in a game situation. Many thanks
I have an assessment and the task is "Working the ball out of the back left hand corner of defence" - I have a mixed ability group of male and female players including a goalkeeper and have to train them for a one hour session including warm up skills sessions and game related play including progression. Does anyone have any ideas? At presnt I am thinking about focusing on positional play and perhaps doing a bit on possessional play/posting up before the game play situation...any thoughts?
Hello, I search different exercises for hockey self-pass. Have you got a site or a work or documents? Thanks
Hockey- I have been asked to do defensive drills for a mens team of a good standard. does anyone have any ideas for a session of just defensive drills?
we started the season 5-1 and now mid-way it seems we are fading? we have lost our last 3 games - what are some good drills to get them focused again and pumped for the rest of the season and to get them over the hump -to the next level. thanks
hi allI'm currently coaching 12 and 13 yr olds and the team has a massive problem with shape and being disciplined positionally.Any tips, ideas, drills etc for helping with / teaching this?many thanks,Gary
I want our team to make our team and hopefully get promoted, however in my opinion player personalities are holding us back such disliking position and certain players wanting to do things that other players are better at.
Hi, Does anyone have a smart way for giving all your players a number when they are taking part in a trial. Was trying to avoid having to print and laminate and pin numbers onto their backs. How do others manage this when you might have up to 50 kids at a trial and you don't know them all. Any suggestions appreciated. Cheers Tracey
Why wont this session open for me when i log in its not there ??
We practice weekly about staying in position, widening the field and using outletting to move the ball up field. They execute in practice, but when it comes time to play most players do not stay disciplined and crowd the ball on one side or another.............How do I fix this Players are U19
I want to involve some drills that isolate the escaping drill (recognising a threat and turning away to keep possession) and incorporate into a game situation.
I am coaching an u16A team and recently got them using a 3/4 press which is working well to turn over ball. however their counter attack from this situation is poor - does anyone know any drills or game situation drills to improve on this. thanks
Hi Im new to coaching hockey want to know what position do I play some of my weaker players without them losing interest and there confidence.
Hi,I perhaps naively, expected to have most of our team from last year carry over and only have a few new comers to integrate and get up to speed with the rest. However meeting the team at our first practice last night i find I have five players still at school from last year and the rest all new comers, most of whom had not held a hockey stick at all till practice. This being only my second season coaching (year 9 to year 13 boys) has left me feeling a little blindsided, and feeling quite unsure how to prepare practices that target both groups of boys. Do i lump them both groups together, keep them separate? What drills/exercises to best bring the new comers up to speed.I don't want to neglect either group, keep practice worthwhile for the experienced boys, but also bringing the new comers up to a level were they can mix in with the others and learn organically from them while practicing as a team. Drills for decision making/attacking phases of play for 13/14 year old girls. I don't want to do goal work yet. Thanks
how do you stop your team over crowding in the circle? what drills or game situations could i use at training?
I'm looking for suggestions on set plays for free hits going into the circle. High school rules in the US now state that all players (attack/defense) must be 7 yards from the ball. What plans will work for drawing corners and goal scoring opportunities?
