Netball: young

What is the best way to teach a new girl how to shoot a goal? Is it 2 handed with ball above the head and arms stretched up?

I must training an 13 years old female player and I have to work wiht her very nuch in footwork drills,tehnical procedures,mental,general phisic,tactic,after my oppinion 3-4 month,but I have a big problem with her parrents,they think that their child will play a mutch better tennis if she playing in compettitios not made trainnig with me.What is your oppinion it this a good method to trainnig a child,after my oppinion this is a great trainnig error. i have a question relating to finding a teams gel. i have an equal amount of younger and abit older women. i find the older women are keen to make trainings and comunicate well with me. and the younger are not so keen to learn and are harder to comunicate with. the younger girls are just out of reach of being in the other bracket of players. i would like to see them advance their status of player. especially being young they could really get there if they would only listern with an open mind and at least allow themselves to learn something new. and the older women of my team are harder to teach as they say its hard to teach an old dog new tricks. any surgestions please?

I coach U11's who seem to expect the ball to fall into their hands rather than jump for it. No matter how much I teach them, they simply don't jump! 

Is there a system for rotating 9 girls through each position fairly each week

Young girls are so easily distracted and it is impacting alot on how they play. How do I stop this?

What is the best way for players 11-13 to mitigate the affect of open players using their elbows. It is brought to the umpires attention and they do their best. However, I have in the last few weeks heard 2 different coaches (when I was observing games - hence I could hear the coach) give instructions to her players to "use elbows and intimidate". Seems a growing trend based on what a lot of players are doing on court in a range of teams. Defensively my players are starting to shy away from staying close to their oppn player. When on attack - I tell them to keep moving so the oppn defense can't set up on them and use the elbow. The poor GS particularly is getting really knocked about a lot of time as she is trying to execute a hold sometimes.

I am coaching an U13s team and at training i am struggling to get them to listen and stop mucking around. Any ideas i can try?

I'm coaching the very young team yr 1-3 age 6-9 and was wondering what's the best drills to teach them ball skills passing quick and basic rules? Thanks Mikaela

I was watching the silver ferns game last night & noticed the GS stands right up on the line when the opposing team is having their centre pass. Just wondering opinions on that, do you think its to put pressure on WD/GD if the centre passes back, or I guess she is there if there is any mistake made (loose ball possibility). I am just wondering if I try this with my 10/11 year olds. My GS wants more work to do!!!

Need some quick easy netball drills for year 4 kids

I have a young player who is 5-6 and her first year. She is very scared of catching the ball, she closes her eyes and turns away. I have shown her correct hand position and called her hands her super heroes and they will protect her. I have shown that if she has her hands and arms in the right position the ball will not hit her. I have tried using bean bags (might go back to this).What else can I do to help her. She is so sweet and I don't want her singled out in drills if she can't catch.I'd love some help on this

Hi I have a new team of 7/8 year olds and we have one very weak player that doesn't move or listen nor catch the ball. Any advice? I need to play her in all positions as they move around to learn them all but feel she needs to learn one at a time. She says she just wants to shoot but that's difficult when she can't catch. My associate coach and I disagree on whether U/10s should play different positions or focus/settle on one, maybe two. I don't want to put the girls in a box at such a young age but I also don't want a Jack of all Trades situation. They are still developing so much that I feel I'll be doing them a disservice by just putting them in the same position every week. The assistant coach says if we move them around we're not going to do as well but that is where the participation vs performance comes in for me. Surely at this age development is more important than winning?No coach likes to lose but I don't want to win at the expense of them experiencing different positions. What do you guys suggest? Hi guys I’m a Development netball coach. But my daughter is also playing U11’s Development for her association that I’m involved in also. I don’t coach her for several reasons.. My issue is that her development coach has really pigeoned holed her in WA for the best part of the season.. she is a very strong WA but she can play C, WD just as well if not better.. also these girls should be able to play/understand all positions on court due to player rotations in the normal teams. It’s very hard to watch at times. I’m not sure how to approach her coach or not. Or how to talk to her about it also without her thinking I’m been awful. hi everyone, I coach an under 9 netball team. As usual we have a variety of skill levels in the team. On Saturday, we lost by a lot. That didn't trouble me - it was the attitude of a few girls that really disappointed me. They gave up. They stopped running, staying with (or even near) their opponent, stood still with their hands by their sides and refused to play.AAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I sat them down after the game and said that I don't care about the score board, I care about your effort. When you stop trying you let the whole team down. When you look like you can't be bothered, that leaves me feeling like I can't be bothered either!Ok, what should have I done? help please oh learned coach friends!Thanks, Melissa
