Netball: throw in s

How do I set a defensive zone (ie GA WA C WD GD) and teach the girls to defend the zone they are in and not go for the ball?

My U14's could not get free on a Goal line throw in. I need practices for Goal Defenders (GD), wing defenders (WD) to get free to receive a pass from the goal Keeper (GK). With the second pass to the centre (C) or back to the GK. Thank you Angie. - submitted by email

Can you be penalised for standing back from the line when taking a sideline throw in in netball?

In netball, I've heard it can be a good tack to have the GD take the backline throw in's as it free's her up for the 2nd or 3rd pass further down the court.Does anyone agree with this thinking!

How is it best to teach 11's to throw over players?  I know we teach them to drive in front but there are times they need to throw over and I have found they they throw drops short.  So the pass is easily intercepted.  It is like I have spent so much time drilling to come in front when they have to throw over they can't do it.  Thx

I have found that my players worked well as a group and also really enjoyed a Quiz about Netball (both rules and history of netball in general)but I have run out of questions, I usually only finish our training sessions with one question for each member of our team and use any the following week that they got wrong so they are learning at the same time. coaching u13s have 6 good players and 2 that this their first season.For this first half of the season most of their training has been catching and throwing .I find that they are not improving so on game days the other players are reluctant to pass it to them as they either drop the ball or pass it to the opposition.I am struggling to know what to do 

Hi I have a player who has recently taken up another sport and cannot attend training at all but can attend the weekend game. We are half way through the season. I am not sure whether its fair to give this player as much game time as the other girls and just wanted to know what other coaches might do in this situation. Thanks

Playing ball off post from back line pass

At a recent game the opposition umpire said that we no longer do toss ups and rather rudely overruled my team's umpire. I have not been formally involved in umpiring for about 5 years and had not heard this - toss ups were still in the rule book when I did the online umpiring test earlier this year. Can anyone enlighten me?

In a netball game, can you pass the netball backwards?

I have a trick I use during my cente pass. the centre just places the ball on the ground after the whistle ha blown and then the WD comes up from behind and picks up the ball and plays. This has caused quite a stir and some umpires then punish my team. What is the rule and can we use this trick? Thank you! Ronel

I had someone ask me if you are allowed to do this in a game. I thought if it was accidental it was ok but if it's on purpose and something they do regularly that shouldn't be allowed. What are the rules on this? Thank you.

Are you allowed to mark another player off court if you remain on court??

My friend coaches an under 13s team and when someone has the ball they all run for it like seagulls going for bread. The coach has told them many times to spread out and for not everyone to run to the ball at once but the girls keep doing it and they can't get the ball down the court.
