I have thoroughly enjoyed using your site to help me with my coaching plans for my under 9's netball team.
I have an attacking goal defender and every time she manages to intercept the ball she gets pulled up for contact whether she has contacted or not. I dont want to change her style of play. what can I do to help her in this situation.
How do you advise your team as Coach when they come up against a rough and agressive team? What is the best way to cope with rough play. Thanks

Hi I'm all new to Netball and coaching under 9's. We have 10 aside. Can anyone help in the best way to do a rotation form.At them moment I have a list with names and positions then each week I just move the name down to the next position so they play that position for the entire game and the resting players alternate eg with C or WD or GK each quarter. Are they the main positions to rotate with? Thank you for your time.

I organise a ladies netball group of varying abilities but mostly beginners. Despite constantly telling them to slow their play down, they are determined to pass the pall on as soon as its in their hands often resulting in sloppy passing. Any suggestions on how to slow the pace down and hopefully, improve their passing?
HiWe have our U16's trials coming up. I haven't coached or selected this age group as yet. What would you look at in ability and skill level for U16's?

Hi all, My daughter is about to start coaching for the first time and it's expected she'll have a group of 10 years olds in C or D grade. I'm struggling to remember what her capabilities were at that age and she's looking for some suggestions for drills to start off with until she gets a handle on where they're at. Is anyone currently working with kids around that age/ability bracket? Does anyone know if any of the weekly drills are aimed at beginners/introductory levels? From the ones I'm seen, they're aimed at an intermediate level so I'm assuming some of the games would be OK, but most of the drills would be beyond their capability.Thanks in advance.
I coach 10 and 11 year olds that need quite a bit of work. They still need to build their upper body strength and passing accuracy. I am teaching them to use chest passes as the pass that they should use the majority of the time and use shoulder passes for longer range passes. I find that their shoulder passes are weak and not accurate, but something we are working on progressively. We have an umpire that constantly yells at the kids and demands that they use shoulder passes all of the time and has told me that I am coaching them wrong and that I don't know what I am doing. What are your thoughts on this? I do the best I can as a volunteer coach.
Hi everyone, I'm a GS/GA and I shoot well but I struggle to make opportunities for myself to shoot in games. It is slightly better when I play GS if i stay in the circle, but when I play GA or come out, it has happened that I haven't shot at all. I either get blocked from going in the circle straight away or am too slow to position myself. Could anyone give me some pointers about basic movement? I have watching videos where players roll/cut - if a player is marking you face on and blocking you from entering the D, would that be how I get around them? I have conflicting advice - don't teach too many court strategies ie C to WA to GS to GA from a centre pass as I have been told that it stiffles their thinking. But without this I find they all crowd the space and at 10yrs old it seems very difficult to get them to understand about reading who is already in that space. Or perhaps I just aren't explaining that concept well?? And also when bringing the ball through the court from a goal line throw in at our GK end - same with strategies for that. Is it okay to say GK I won't you to throw it to GD, then GD to C and so on and this is where your area of the court is and I want you to stay in that area and try and get the ball there? Keeping the WD on the otherside and making sure she doesn't cross over. Confusing over how much at this age we teach court strategies or perhaps they are know as plays. Alice P

I am coaching girls who are in year 8 high school, so around the 13-14 age group. It has come to my attention that there is one particular girl in the team who "lords" it over one other girl at school. Tells her things that she thinks she is doing wrong and basically criticises her style of play. The girl who is being picked on was so upset she did not want to train this week and told her mother she wanted to leave the team.How do I combat this?I have already had one session with the girls about being a team and supporting each other and being better people. It seems to have fallen on deaf ears for this particular girl...

Playing ball off post from back line pass
Hi I coach a great team of under 9s and when we do a driving drill we start with "pitter patter feet" (like a very fast low jog on spot) then when i say GO they drive forward. However a lot of them step back with their foot then drive forward. Any tricks out there to get just going forward? Is it just the foot they start on like the strong foot? Or something else?
