How can I turn these tips into possessions, is it footwork being too slow to actually get onto the ball. or what?? Most of the tips are in defence area and centre. Love some feedback Janine
it could be a few things why the players arent getting a whole hand onto the ball.
yes footwork. a poor take off will dramatically slow down the drive to the ball.
reading the play too late, so not concentrating enough on the game and whats going on.
hands being too relaxed or soft, so the ball touches but can not be controlled.
the strength of the pass. the stronger the pass the more direct the line is so the harder it will be to change its direction into your hands.
taking your eyes off the ball so your hand does not get into correct position of the line of the ball.
not jumping or flat feet. (refer back to first comment ref footwork).
im sure one or more of these will help change the result of your players tips.
in more ways than one
Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
