C and GD blocking the GA

If my C and GD block the GA so that she can't get into her attacking third is that okay. They are basically facing them and getting in their way so that it makes it hard for the GA to get free? Also, if the GA then runs into one of my defenders and the ball is just about to be shot by their GS do I pull it up as a free pass in the centre third or do I presume that it does not affect the movement of the ball and let the GS continue with their shot?

Using stratagies in netball

Hi, i am predominantly a U12yrs coach but i want to transition in to coaching the high school girls. I love all these drills and session plans and have found them very helpful, but i am looking now for information on strategies used in netball eg/strategic positioning of players when changing from attacking to suddenly defending after a turnover, or when should the GA drop back . when to use a zone defence or side-on defence. All these questions that aren't covered by drills. Is there somewhere to get this info or is it just learn as u go. Thank you

Keeping girls motivated when losing every game in comp

Hi, I'm co-coaching an U13 team. The players are a mix of experienced, but mostly inexperienced players, with a couple of players who are really talented (these are two of our inexperienced players). All players are new to each other. The girls won every game at the district grading days and we were upgraded two levels. We are now in round 6 of the competition and the girls have lost every game and we just lost from the team that was below them on the ladder. We've had a couple of injuries and one was quite bad in round 4 requiring surgery which has shaken the girls as well. They are starting to lose heart and their game is deteriorating. How do we keep them motivated?

How to deal with different levels of skill in one team

I have an U10 team playing in Div 1, we are doing well coming 2nd in the comp. The problem i have is I have 8,9 and 10 year olds in the team as we are a small club. I am looking for Drills to cater all age groups and the girls abilities/skills. There are girls who play beyond their ages, and then girls who cannot catch or throw a ball, (basically 6 of the 9 players cannot do both). They have improved, but i find the skilled players are getting frustrated as there are alot of turnovers due to basic errors, bad passes, stepping, offside etc....any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Forcing the pass, not seeing the easy option

How do you get your players to pass to the easy passing option rather than forcing the ball to the player marked by 2 defence. My players are only passing to their favourite team mates not the one in front.

Intercept / turnover | Sportpl...

Hi, a netball mum newbie here. I was wondering what the difference is between an intercept and a turnover. It seems to me that an intercept is the same as a turnover (you intercept the ball and "turn over the centre-pass" so to speak). But there must be a distinction because I see the two terms used separately when they show the statistics during the ANZ Championship games. I'd love it if someone could explain it to me. Thanks, Isabella.

offside at a centre pass | Spo...

Need some help on a dispute on a decision I made during a match I was umpiring recently.A player was tying her shoe laces in my half of the court. A goal had been scored in the half I was umpiring. Centre stepped in the centre circle whilst this player was still attending to her shoe lace. So in affect she had not got herself on side and then gone off side she just did not get on side.I blew the whistle to start play as the centre was ready. As the player who was in my half and was off side, I blew for offside. Can I have clarification on this please, was I correct, or should the other umpire have called this offside even though the player was in my half?Secondly, a reputable umpire told me a couple of months ago, that the umpire blowing the whistle to start the game at a centre pass, controls both sides for off side? I.e. All players that go offside at the centre pass, to the left and right of the centre circle. I was not suite about this so need clarification on that too. Thanks in anticipation.

What a fantastic tool. The Chalkboard and session tools make an unbelievable difference in making training plans in both time and organization. I will be instructing all of my assistant coaches that this tool must be used for all sessions during the season, so that we may build a club coaching resource library.
