Avoid deuce deep corner - backhand

Cones are set in the deuce deep area. The coach feeds balls to the forehand or backhand and the player hits the ball while avoiding the deep deuce corner.

Cones are set in the deuce deep area. The coach feeds balls to the forehand or backhand and the player hits the ball while avoiding the deep deuce corner.

Can you hit 3 balls

2 players play points together. Zone is set in the deep area in the middle on the player A side. Player A tries to win the point by hitting offensively. Player B wins the point if the opponent misses the ball or if he makes 3 defensive shots into the zone. Drill specifications: 1-2 points and switch This drill has a competitive context but players shouldn’t forget about their goals. Players should switch after 1-2 points to keep all players rotating dynamically. Coach can set up a game where 2 teams are playing up to 10 points and they switch defensive/offensive roles after the game is over. While waiting for own turn, coach shouldn’t give any additional drills for players to let them watch others and learn from their decisions.

The player stands at the net. Cones are set in the middle, on the deuce and ad side. The coach feeds balls to forehand side and the player executes stop-volleys, hitting into different target every time.

Players play up to 11 points. Player A can hit only lobs. Player B can hit only overheads.

Master of Cross Court

Coach feeds random balls and the player must hit all of the these balls cross court in between the target cones.

TacticsVolleying Skills, Keeping ball in playDescriptionPartners line up along each side of the net. One player has the racket, the other has the ball. One player throws the ball to the volleyer who tries to hit the ball back to the feeder. If he catches it then they move one place to the right. The aim is to move along the length of the net as often as possible.

Anticipation and tactical awar...

The court is marked out with cones into areas (e.g. red, amber and green). Players try to anticipate which area the ball is going to land in so that they can respond with the most appropriate tactical return. A buddie coach stands behind the player and tells them which shot they should play (ie. approach the net, lob etc.) depending on the area that they are hitting from i.e. where they are standing/ running on court as they hit the ball. Players will need to watch the body shape of the coach and the ball contact carefully to anticipate what type of shot is being hit and therefore where it is likely to land.

<BR>-Player 2 starts with a second serve to advantage court.<BR>-Returner hits a lob return over player 1s head and follows it into the net.<Br>-Player 2 chases the lob and returns it down the line.<BR>-Player 1 moves to hot seat in the middle.<br>-Returner hits cross court volley to player 1.<BR>-Player 2 comes to net and the point is played out.<BR>-The same drill can be repeated on the deuce side of the court.

Player tries to hit the ball on the rise without moving back.Drill specifications:4 reps per setIf coach has more players during the session he can set up 2 lines of players and work on forehand and backhand at the same time. With less players coach can focus just on one groundstroke for few minutes and then switch to the next one. Incorporating specific fitness exercises focused on shoulder strength is a good way to prevent possible injuries because of the higher point of contact.
