Coach feeds random balls and the player must hit all of the these balls cross court in between the target cones.
Being comfortable while hitting cross court shots is a necessity to play tennis at a decent level. Players have to execute the shot with consistency to have a back up plan while other things fall down. Cross court direction is safer than down the line (longer distance, lowest net point) and it can put the opponent on the run so players should base their tactics on that solution. Looking at the pros (Nadal, Djokovic, Federer) we can learn that they almost never miss cross court shots because it is a consistent option (they risk more with down the line to win the point).
On-court coaching is now fully legal, technology continues to advance, and the ATP calendar evolves. Here's what tennis coaches need to know for 2026.
Tennis demands a unique combination of endurance, power, agility, and flexibility. Physical preparation determines how long careers last and how players perform when it matters most.
Ecological dynamics is transforming tennis coaching. This constraints-led approach develops adaptable, creative players who can solve problems in competition, not just execute drilled patterns.
