I have thoroughly enjoyed using your site to help me with my coaching plans for my under 9's netball team.
Team yellowhas centre pass- but ball not touched in centre third but caught by green team in goal third. Is this a penalty as 1st pass not received in centre third or can play go on?
hi i jut started playing GK for a local netball team and i am struggling abit, im not sure on what i can and cant do, ie jumping and waving my arms etc plz help
My friend coaches an under 13s team and when someone has the ball they all run for it like seagulls going for bread. The coach has told them many times to spread out and for not everyone to run to the ball at once but the girls keep doing it and they can't get the ball down the court.
Help me please, I am coaching 11 yrs and have one member of my team who is making nasty comments towards most of my other team members, before I am forced to raise this issue with her parent (who is never in attendance, only drop off and pick up, and I dont think she would be the easiest parent to deal with either) I am hoping someone can give me some ideas on how to deal with this, should I ask her to sit out or should I try to include her more to force a better relationship, when I have asked her if we can make an effort to play as a team she is clearly telling me, Its not her fault and that she is reacting to others, but i know this is not true, I dont think she will except she is doing anything wrong, if fact she is my biggest trouble maker when it comes to talking, not litening and being disrespectful, to me her team and once even an umpire (at training) HELP PLEASE its upsetting my girls %3A(
iam in u/14 and i step a lot and give away free pass the team is getting bored
How do I stop my girls from running around the court so much. also, not really taking notice of their fellow players on court and they tend to both end up going for the ball. most of the focus is on the ball - not space.
I have taken over coaching a 15/un open team about 8 months ago. The focus for improvement was to work on fitness. They are much fitter than when we started and now can finish off a game. There are 4 very good players and 4 average players. I need help with the attitude of one of the girls. She half-hearted takes direction, doesn't play well unless she plays in the position she wants to, constantly whispers negatives to others at training and is constantly giving us intolerable looks if she doesn't like what she hears. I could go on and on. And yes she is one of the average players. We have 3 coaches in the team and we have never come across such a rude girl. In my day you would get a ball in head if you weren't looking and listening to the coach! Please help with how we can engage this girl.
How to get my GD and GK to know how to defend a 2 v 1 situation if one of them are standing out, outside of the ring?
I am coaching a year six team with a friend and I have never coached before but I have played netball for many years. What sort of drills are suitable for them (they are about 11 and 12) which are not to complicated but also aren't to basic. Thanks in advance!!
Is it best to take a full squad of 10 or just 8 of that squad? Do you rotate each week or during the game? Asked using Sportplan Mobile App

HI EveryoneI recently switched from GK AND GD, to WA. I'm finding it difficult to feed the ball into the circle and having confidence in my passing accuracy. I'm also having trouble on getting free for centre pass, especially when the other team has a really good WD. I've only played WA a couple of times so I'm still learning, but I really don't want to let my team down. Thanks all, for the help!
I was playing GS today and marked by a very tall GK. As I was watching the ball come forward, I moved to the top of the D but she didn't stay with me and remained behind me. I couldn't see her and was unsure if I should stay close to her to be aware of where I could move, or to just move where I wanted. My back was turned to her as I was facing where the ball was, should I be side on to see her in my peripheral vision but not stay with her, or should I keep marking her to hold her then come forward when appropriate? I would be grateful for any advice, thank you,
as a player, my biggest flaw is my obstructions when I'm marking. I know about checking my feet before I put my arms up, but does anyone have any other tips on putting pressure especially when the opponent is taking a shot?
I am having trouble with one of my players who is a very valuable mid court player, yet obseses about wanting to play GS, not only is she the shortest in the team but when she has played GS she struggles to get in front to receive the ball. No matter how much I explain that the mid court is where she needs to be she wont let it up & even has a nasty attitude towards other players. I have very good shooters in the team, how do I explain without upsetting her but in a way that will get through to her that shooting is not for her this season??

Hi there I"m coaching a wonderful team of yr7 girls (11-12yr olds) they have lots of potentional however no matter how much I tell them to "find the open spaces" they don't and keep all running towards the ball as they are very keen. Then we have all this open space and about 3/4 players bunched together. Ideas of drills/ strategies to teach them would be much appreciated. Thanks - Trish
I'm new to coaching (u11's). Had 1st training last night, was using my folder with drills from this site & a mum (who's daughter is new to netball) kept asking if I need help then was shouting instructions to her daughter from sideline for whole session & even got on court to instruct her. At end of training the mum said she can train the daughter on weekends as she was a state player & is a FFA coach??). Other mums were upset , said "does she realise her daughters not only girl on court", advice please? Asked using Sportplan on Mobile
in more ways than one
The early 'shoot from anywhere' era is over. Smart teams now use data-driven decision models to decide when the two-pointer is worth it.
The short pass is being penalised more consistently in 2026. Here's how to train proper passing technique and eliminate hand-offs under pressure.
No more 50/50 toss-ups. When simultaneous infringements occur, possession now goes to the team that last had the ball. Here's what it means for your coaching.
