What are some of the tips that can assists me to become a best shooter?
Imagine a cone/witches hat/gnome hat on top of the goal post and aim for that, make sure you have a good bend in your knees, feet are shoulder width apart for best balance and flick your wrist :)
Hi Meresiana,
I agree with Tahlia, having the correct technique is incredibly important - you can find this here.
I would also say your movement is important too, yet this is often overlooked. You need to have to be fast on your feet to get away from your defender and get the ball where you want to shoot from inside the circle. You should try to land where you are most comfortable shooting from - if you're not comfortable, simply pass the ball back out to your WA or C and try to re-position.
If you are a holding shooter, make sure you stay upright and don't bend over, as this will allow the defenders to get their hand to the ball. Time your movement so you only move when the ball is coming over your head (if you are holding behind). You can see how to best hold here.
I would also say having confidence in your own ability is key. Have the confidence to put the shot up and of course go for rebounds ALWAYS. I think this mostly comes with practice, so practice whenever you have time, as this will help you perfect your technique and make you more accurate. I have attached a fun practice below that will help you practice shooting from a range of distances and help you improve. You can do this drill alone or with friends and set yourself different challenges e.g. how long it takes you to score from each cone and then try to cut this time down each time. Or if you are playing with a friend you can assign different cones different points e.g. further out cones 5 points and closer cones 1 point and see who gets the most points.
Hope this helps.
