I am coaching a year six team with a friend and I have never coached before but I have played netball for many years. What sort of drills are suitable for them (they are about 11 and 12) which are not to complicated but also aren't to basic. Thanks in advance!!
start with the basics...ball passing and catching drills, footwork drills, court positions, and basic strategies ie spreading out.
these are your foundations...once they can catch and throw and run onto the ball, you can introduce preliminary moves (getting away from your player), basic defence (in front defence) and shooting drills.
from there you might think about teaching channels (to keep the court open everyone has a certain channel on the court they are in and move between), rebounding, more defence (ie outside arm), defending every pass, circle movement between the shooters, intercepting.
that should at least get you started. just think about all the things you have learnt over the years, and break down what you know about netball and how and why you do it.
this is an awesome age group to be coaching.

in more ways than one
The early 'shoot from anywhere' era is over. Smart teams now use data-driven decision models to decide when the two-pointer is worth it.
The short pass is being penalised more consistently in 2026. Here's how to train proper passing technique and eliminate hand-offs under pressure.
No more 50/50 toss-ups. When simultaneous infringements occur, possession now goes to the team that last had the ball. Here's what it means for your coaching.
