How to play against an Agressi...

My U11's are playing an agressive team in our Grand Final. They physically hurt my team who come off, upset and even crying during the match. They make use of elbows, stepping on toes, bumping etc. How do I help my team find the confidence in playing such a team??

Increasing enthusiasm for 5-8y...

I am coaching a little net set go team (set tier) with ages 5-8. Usually I coach high school girls. A mum of one of the 7 yr olds just messaged me with this: "i was just wondering If you have any tips to help us get Miss S enthused about netball, she isn't enjoying it but wants to "give it more time" (her words)." We only have a half hour training session before we play as no one else will coach but this is the only time I can do training and there are players from another town so this is the best option for everyone. We play a couple of warm up drills/games and practice 1 skill ready for our game. I have covered the basics of passing and footwork so far. None of my team have ever played before, but 4 of them did the net set go - net tier last year. The girl has only played 2 games so far as we have had a bye. So far she has had a go at positions GK, GD, GS, GA, and WA. She is the tallest girl in the team and so tends to get a fair amount of the ball. Any ideas on what to suggest to this mum?

What to do when a player can't...

Hi I have a player who has recently taken up another sport and cannot attend training at all but can attend the weekend game. We are half way through the season. I am not sure whether its fair to give this player as much game time as the other girls and just wanted to know what other coaches might do in this situation. Thanks

1 player struggling what do I ...

Hi I have a new team of 7/8 year olds and we have one very weak player that doesn't move or listen nor catch the ball. Any advice? I need to play her in all positions as they move around to learn them all but feel she needs to learn one at a time. She says she just wants to shoot but that's difficult when she can't catch. Other players aren't passing to her either as she doesn't movebinto position. Any advice would be great! The rest of the time are thriving!! Asked using Sportplan Mobile App

How do I stop face marking..? ...

Help... I am new to coaching netball albeit have played for years. My experience in playing comes from being an attacker so trying to work with my defence, is proving tricky. The issue I have is that both my GD and GK face mark. I have tried numerous drills in training however as soon as they get in to a match, they revert back to face marking. When the ball is coming down the court, I encourage them to stay on their toes, side marking and moving in front and round the back however when the GA or the GS moves out, the face marking starts. We have had balls bounce of the backs of heads and all sorts. Does anyone have any tips?  Di

What am I doing wrong. netball is my life and I really want to get on the pro team because its the best and they travel to play netball and they play a lot of games which i love. Also after every game my right ankle aches and evrypart of my body aches, stretching doesn't help me what else should i do? Please help me find maybe what im doing wrong that the judges can see.

Does anyone have a drill to encourage U11s to come forward for a pass?

Does anyone have a drill to encourage under 11's to come forward for a pass rather than asking for the overhead pass all the time as they are 'running away' from the ball in their haste to get to the circle?

How do I coach two teams in a game situtation at the same time.

I coach children from ages 8- 11. When it comes to playing a game, due to develoment 8/9s play a game and 10/11 play a game. Its tricky to watch and coach both games, add in any injuries and disputes, it can get manic. Any suggestions to improve the situation would be welcome.

How do you get players to communicate on court?

Does anyone have any tips / ideas / drills on getting players to talk to each other during game play... not just calling for the ball when making a lead but directing play too? I have a team of mixed experience but when they play in a game you can almost hear a pin drop! Any advice?!

play your own game not theres?

how to explain to 10/11yr olds to play there own game and not the other teams. i coach a great team who work fantastic together and have been going awesome this year. however they came up against a team on saturday that are still learning the game and the rules ( so there was alot of stepping, contact, and chaos on the court). my girls then started playing a very chaotic game and then making alot of silly mistakes. i said to the girls during the break that they need to play there own game and not the other teams game but i dont think they understood what i meant. does anyone know how i can explain to the girls that they need to play our own game and not there game? thanks

What a fantastic tool. The Chalkboard and session tools make an unbelievable difference in making training plans in both time and organization. I will be instructing all of my assistant coaches that this tool must be used for all sessions during the season, so that we may build a club coaching resource library.
