Coach says to "not play their game". What does this mean?

our coach keeps on telling on as not to play there game. how do we stop playing there game

You will hear this often from a coach as we all get caught up in the moment of playing.  imagine this...you are a team that likes to spread out, unrushed passes, strong drives, and don't like to run too much.  you are playing a lower skilled team, that rush their passes, crowd the ball, and stand still for passes, but run all over the court like chooks with their head cut off.  now if you were to play the way the other team play, that is what you'd look like, and if you played your own, then you'd go back to your own style.  another words, if you are playing a fast paced team, that doesn't mean you have to rush your passes, or if you are playing a team that bunches up a lot, doesn't mean you have to.

how to stop playing their game, go back to what you do.  whatever that is, slow down or speed up the game, spread out, pass the way you like to pass, defend the way you like to defend, don't let them dictate the way you play.

Hope that helps.
