Hi, I have a team of 11 year olds with 8 in the team, is there a fair way of substituting fairly so they all get equal court time. I do not want any arguments with parents.ThanksDi
Hi Di,
The simplest way is just to alternate which set of 4 players have a 1/4 off each week. i.e. Week 1, Players 1-4 play all game, 5-8 play 3/4. Week 2, Players 1-4 play 3/4 and 5-8 play whole game. This would repeat through the season, I would also change which 1/4 they have off so it`s not always player 5 off in the 1st quarter or whatever. This will be completely even only if there are an even number of games in your season, but it is about the best you can do.
As soon as you have someone away this will mean they will be short game time for the year, but there isn`t much you can do about that. You could stick with the roster for the bulk of the season, say the 1st 12 rounds and then in the final 3 try and give full games to those who are short through missing games, but that would be up to you.
Whatever you do, you need to make sure you have it all recorded and count game time accurately. This will help if there are any complaints.
The only other comment I would make is that you need to be clear on what other expectations you have before games get under way. For example, if you have a team rule that says if you miss training then you are off for 1st 1/4 then everyone needs to know that up front. It will impact on how much court time someone gets for the year because you enforce it even if it was their week rostered for a full game.
Hope this helps,
Simon
yes i have one i am 13 and used to play in a group of 8 you can change it around every week like for example. week 1: (people will be made number 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) number 1 can have half a game out and second half number 2 can have half a game out. i hope this helped sorry for wasting your time
