How do you get the shooters to passI have a 9 year old team and the shooter will not pass the ball and thinks that scoring the goals is important instead of playing as a team and getting closer to circle.
Does anyone have a good drill for showing the centre when to become involved in an attacking play moving down the court.
Any ideas on how to rotate nine players in an under fifteen years team (none of whom want to play defence)??
I have found that my players worked well as a group and also really enjoyed a Quiz about Netball (both rules and history of netball in general)but I have run out of questions, I usually only finish our training sessions with one question for each member of our team and use any the following week that they got wrong so they are learning at the same time. If you have any ideas please let me know as I have searched the web and every other resource I can find, Some of the questions I have used are How many seconds can you hold the ball? How far away do you need to be before arms go up to defend? How is a short pass measured? Where does a ball need to be touched first after a centre pass? Name 2 examples of Good spartsmanship? Name the 7 Positions in a Netball Game How many players on a Netball court during a Game? (trick question, usually andswered with 7, keeps them on their toes) In which Country did netball begin? What is the Name of the Australian Netball Team? What time do we turn up for a Game on Saturdays? If you land on 2 feet while catching the ball, which foot can you pivot on? How domi deal with a player who does not attend training but yet wants to participate in league games. She is a good player but I feel she is missing out on training and how the whole team functions together and led eloping herself further.Also I have a player who thinks she is the best player in the team . She enjoys playing centre position which she is very good at. After half time I get her to sit out because I need to give ankther players who is totally as good as her to play centre as its fresh legs on the court, plus she gets a little tired playing centre.She feels she is capable of playing a full game and why does she have to sit out at half time. All the players are excellent players in the team therefore it's difficult to decide who to sit out and who to keep on??Please advise
My associate coach and I disagree on whether U/10s should play different positions or focus/settle on one, maybe two. I don't want to put the girls in a box at such a young age but I also don't want a Jack of all Trades situation. They are still developing so much that I feel I'll be doing them a disservice by just putting them in the same position every week. The assistant coach says if we move them around we're not going to do as well but that is where the participation vs performance comes in for me. Surely at this age development is more important than winning?No coach likes to lose but I don't want to win at the expense of them experiencing different positions. What do you guys suggest? What is the best set piece to win a center court and score a goal
I have a team of 12 girls; 3 goalers, 2 defenders and the rest centre court. We will make it into the finals series and as a result i have talked to the girls in an open discussion about what kind of stratergies they would like to use come finals. This included a vote on how we should field the team, even court time for all or play to win, fielding our best team based on training attendance and behavior at training, commitment, sportsmanship and how they are generally playing on the night. Only 2 of the 12 voted even court time and we had further discussion and clarification or question and everyone was sent home happy. However i have one Mother who i cannot please no matter how hard i try who is fighting this decision, her daughter complained yet voted play to win> I don;t know what i should do, i like the girls to learn to make decisions in a team setting by themselves and learn about the outcomes of such decisions but at the same time i don't want angry parent(s)! HELP!!
Defending off court player.When a player in general play goes off court to improve her position , does the defender HAVE to allow her onto the court ? OR can she block her from returning. Eg shooter on one side of the circle goes off court around the goalpost and tries to return to court on the other side but defender {on court} blocks her from returning. Is this legal ???
Need some help on a dispute on a decision I made during a match I was umpiring recently.A player was tying her shoe laces in my half of the court. A goal had been scored in the half I was umpiring. Centre stepped in the centre circle whilst this player was still attending to her shoe lace. So in affect she had not got herself on side and then gone off side she just did not get on side.I blew the whistle to start play as the centre was ready. As the player who was in my half and was off side, I blew for offside.Can I have clarification on this please, was I correct, or should the other umpire have called this offside even though the player was in my half?Secondly, a reputable umpire told me a couple of months ago, that the umpire blowing the whistle to start the game at a centre pass, controls both sides for off side? I.e. All players that go offside at the centre pass, to the left and right of the centre circle. I was not suite about this so need clarification on that too.Thanks in anticipation.

Please help I am the coach of 9 13/u girls. We currently playing in Blegue but we are struggling. I sit and watch how other teams play they look like well oiled machines with every girl knowing her place and what to do, in comparison our girls look"messy" they still crowd the ball running in to the person who's got the ball. At times when they do spread it they tend to "hug" the boundary lines staying within 2 m of it. They rely on overhead passes a lot . Or very short passes around 2-3m apart. And our biggest struggle is to score of our own centre passes. We just don't seem to be able to get the ball across the line. Please help
I am an umpire as well as a player, and I had a situation a few weeks ago that challenged my knowledge. On a centre pass. Referring to the third lines. Do the third lines form part of the centre court or are they part of the goal third. In other words at what point would GA,GD,WA and WD become off side? If their foot/feet were on the line? Same for the Centre, would she be off side if her foot/feet were on the line?

I have a team of mixed age girls from year 4 to year 5. 7 of the players are playing together for 2nd or 3rd season together with 2 of these players having low ball and motor skills. 3 of the players are in their first year, 1 of which demonstrates good ball and motor skills, the other two with beginner skills. What is the best way to rotate the players for games to ensure they are all developing? The section we are playing in does not require mandatory position changes at half time, although I have been doing this to develop their overall skills, is this right? Thanks in advance, Mel
How to do a roster to rotate 10 netball players
My centre was penalised for stepping in the centre circle - she took her centre stance and after the whistle was blown she stepped out with one foot. I didnt think a centre had a 'landing foot' at a centre pass, providing both feet are in the circle when the whistle blows, but the umpire said when she returned to the circle she put her left foot in first so that became her landing foot even though play had not been started. I told her just to stay in the circle but I would like to know if the umpire was correct or if she had it wrong
