15 Pass Drill

Within half court only, offensive team must try to make 15 consecutive passes. The defensive team must try to intercept or deflect the passes.No dribbling.

Passing

2 on 2 Half Court

Play 2 versus 2 at one basket.No dribbling allowed.Alternate possession. Play to eleven.

2 v 2

3 Man pass turn bounce pass shoot

In 3s pass ball moving down the court.When team reaches the half court line, turn and repeat back.When one of the players reaches the 3 point line make a bounce pass to a free man. Receiving player shoots.

Shooting

3 Man Weave 2 v 1

3 man weave down the court. When the players reach the half court line the player with the ball places the ball on the floor and becomes the defender. The other two players pick up the ball and play out a 2v1.

2 v 1

3 Man weave turn layup

Play out an unopposed 3 man weave to the half court line.On the way back 3 man weave until one player is close enough to score with a layup.

3 v 2

4 on 4 Half Court

Play 4 versus 4 at one basket.No dribbling allowed.Alternate possession. Play to eleven.

Footwork and Movement

Crocodile Warm Up

Start in the corner of the court by the sideline and baseline, players lined up one behind another along the baseline; First player leads the line crouched and sidestepping diagonally across one half of the court; Keep low, arms outstretched as if defending; At the corner of the half court line and the sideline jog normally along the half court line; At the opposite side of the court, low crouched sidestepping diagonally to the corner of the court at the baseline and the sideline; Jog normally along the baseline to the starting position;

Teams Right Hand Dribble Left Hand Dribble (above)

Player uses right hand to dribbles to the half court line.At the half court line turn and dribble back to the baseline using the left hand.

Dribbling Relay

Teams Right Hand Dribble Left Hand Dribble Last Man Shoot (above)

Dribble to half court line using right hand.At halfway reverse dribble turn and dribble back to baseline using left hand dribbling.Last man in the relay shoots to win the relay.

Set players up as shown in video clip. When the coach says 'GO' both players will start. Offence only gets 1 shot.

2 on 2 - Transition Drill Pass...

Two players (blue) with the ball start from the half way line. They're playing against Red 1 and Red 2. After the attackers have had their shot the 2 defenders must box out and claim the rebound. Once the drill is complete players rotate: Attackers become the new defenders, the defending pair leave the court and swap with a new pair who are the new attackers! Continue until every pair has had a go.

Run shuttles between the half court line and the baseline;Speed of running depends on level of work required and time in the session - jog if it is for a warmup, raise to 75 % to 100 % if it is for a fitness test.

2v2 Transition - Continuous ga...

Set up 4 lines of players, with a line in each corner of the court. Players will play 2v2. Once a shot has been taken the ball is passed to the next pair of players and the previous attacking pair must sprint back to play defence into the 2v2. A continuous drill. The coach can keep score if they wish too.

Split the group in two at opposite corners of the court. Setup as show. Players run to the half way line, make a turn and then receive the ball from the opposite corner before having a shot from roughly the free throw line. Once the player has had a shot they collect their ball and run to join the queue.

Players set up about 10-15 feet apart as shown in video. Players must follow their pass to the next passing position. The final (4th) pass will to a player who complete the move by shooting a lay-up. The drill then continues in the same way, with each player having moved on one position.

Shoot under pressure Shooting ...

Player 1 passes the ball inside the key to player 2 and follows their pass. Before they enter they key player 1 cuts out to receive the return pass from player 2. At this point player 1 should dribble towards the basket with the intention of scoring. However, as soon as player 2 passes the ball they are allowed to close down and put pressure on player 1. Once Player 1 has taken their shot player 2 should collect the ball and drive out of the area before joining the back of the attacking queue. Player 1 joins the back of the defending queue.

Player 1 passes to Player 2 and then cuts behind the strong side and receives a pass from Player 2. After the pass Player 2 sprints down the court for a return pass from Player 1 before going for a lay up shot. Player 1 goes for a rebound.

Scatter some cones (divots) across the area, some the right way up, and some upside down. Split the group into two teams - 'Hackers and Greenkeepers' - and spread them out across the area. On the word 'Go' the Hackers run round turning the divots upside down and the Greenkeepers must turn them the right way up.

Players will run to the first diagonal cone and close-out by chopping their feet.<br /><br /> They will then sprint to the cone at the half way line.<br /><br /> Once they get there, they will slide across the half way line to the other side of the court.<br /><br /> To finish they will back pedal to the baseline.

Player 2 runs cross court in front of player 1 and receives the pass. Player 1 then cuts in court to receive the return pass. After the receiving the ball they then run into the key and then have a shot.

Phantom Fundamental Drill (ii)...

Players v-cut their way up and down the court, with their up in front of their chest (ready to catch an imaginary pass). Take 2-3 paces to the right and (cut) change direction and speed, then 2-3 paces to the left etc.<br /><br />In addition to this, when players hear the whistle blow they must stop as quickly as possible. A one count stop is executed. On the second blast of the whistle players can continue to v-cut their way up the court.

Players are lined up in 2 lines near half way. 2 balls in rotation. Player from one line runs out to receive a bounce pass from opposing line, players take a shot.

Players on the left start with a ball each. Going one player at a time they dribble out into the centre of the court where they meet the defender. The defender should prevent them from moving across the court. Before they get within arm's reach of the defender the attacking player should drive into the key where they have a shot.

Player one passes the ball so that it reaches player 2's hands as they run out. Once the first pass has been made player 1 runs down the wing looking to receive the return pass before cutting in court to enter the key and have a shot.

2v1 to 3v2 3 v 2 - Basketball ...

2 players will attack 1 defender. After a shot has been taken all 3 players become offence and 2 defenders will run in to play a 3v2 at the other end. Once a shot has been taken at that end. The 2 defenders become offence and 1 defender will run in at the other end. This is a continuous drill, where each end the same thing will happen each time.

V-cut to the basket Passing - ...

Players line up at the half way line. The first player in the group starts with the ball. Player 2 stands on the left hand side of the court and player 3 stands at the corner on the right hand side. Player 1 passes to player 2, fakes to go the other way and then goes towards the ball and receives the return pass. Player 1 pivots (use front or reverse pivot) and passes the ball to player 3 before then performing a V cut towards the other side of the court, stopping and then pivoting towards the ball to receive the pass from player 3 and executes a lay up shot. After the lay up shot player 1 plays an outlet pass to player 2 and then goes to replace player 3. Player 3 replace player 2 who then passes to the next starting player and goes to join the back of the queue.
