I have thoroughly enjoyed using your site to help me with my coaching plans for my under 9's netball team.
what are the best drills to teach an under 10 netball team
My nettas love to play games at training but i've already coached a team for a year who want hard training (their Juniors) and this is my first year of coaching nettas and still a little un-sure on what to plan for them for training that is fun and they can still learn. Any ideas
my players seem to get the worst injuries, their 14 and they do everything right cushion landings with a should width base and outside foot pivots? what vare we doing wrong? last year i started with 10 players and at the grand final i had 6 of my original players, i had to bring up 10 year olds!! help?????
When a shooter steps in when taking a shot the defender does not have to move. Is this rule still current or have they changed it because on saturdays game my defenders were not moving when the shooter stepped in but they were being pulled for obstruction every time. Also if the shooter steps in and you keep your feet still but move your arm is this still obstruction?
Are the rules for Sub-Juniors that same as those for Juniors or Netta? Haven't got our rule books as yet and have our first training session this week! Any advise appreciated!
...where it will list and describe playing terminology such as shave, tackle-back, steal, forehand.
I have been asked to be a "fill in" coach this week for a group of under 13s that have very basic skills. The last time I "took" them, i went right back to basics, i did a really basic footwork drill and passing. I am not "normally" a coach, but play the game and have a great love for it, like all of you I assume! (I did coach juniors YEARS ago, but i cant remember them having such basic skills). It would take more than a couple of sessions to build up there skills and i just dont know where to start, as I don't know how many weeks i will be "filing in" for. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks.
Any tips for a team of under 8s that have never played netball before?
What Are Good Drills For Juniors That Involve Teamwork Through Out? I know there's always different cliques and girls can sometimes think there better than others but I need a good drill or tips so they can realise every position is needed and special? Asked using Sportplan Mobile App
How do you track/plan to make sure junior players are rotated through every position throughout the season? Asked using Sportplan Mobile App
I'm coaching 9-10 year olds. We are in a development level before heading to juniors next year. Our team is made up of different levels of netball skills and knowledge of the game. I struggle to cater for all levels as we only practice once a week and they are still at development level. 5 players have 4 years + netball experience with a higher skill set and always wanting a challenge. 2 players who know the basic and this is there 2nd year. my last 2 players who don't know anything and this is there first time playing. Need ideas??
Hi everyone,I am a young coach and I'm just wanting some guidance and insights on what areas I should be focusing on for Under 11's. Most have moved up from under 9's and 2 new players.Thank you! ð¤
While coaching my 9-12 yr olds recently I was told by the nearest umpire that I was not allowed to call helpful tips out to my players while games is in play. Is this correct procedure for "Adult" games or was the umpire being a little strict for the age group?Thankyou Christina WA Coach
We recently chose the teams for netball at my school, i tried out for the junior pro team because everyone as in my team players say i'm good and that i will get in. But I did not get in i didn't get in the a's either im in the b's. I have the speed, i can shoot sometimes and I have really good defence. What am I doing wrong. netball is my life and I really want to get on the pro team because its the best and they travel to play netball and they play a lot of games which i love. Also after every game my right ankle aches and evrypart of my body aches, stretching doesn't help me what else should i do? Please help me find maybe what im doing wrong that the judges can see.
How do I teach junior players how to play corridors
My associate coach and I disagree on whether U/10s should play different positions or focus/settle on one, maybe two. I don't want to put the girls in a box at such a young age but I also don't want a Jack of all Trades situation. They are still developing so much that I feel I'll be doing them a disservice by just putting them in the same position every week. The assistant coach says if we move them around we're not going to do as well but that is where the participation vs performance comes in for me. Surely at this age development is more important than winning? No coach likes to lose but I don't want to win at the expense of them experiencing different positions. What do you guys suggest? Thanks in advance! A Asked using Sportplan Mobile App
Looking for ideas to award our kids for their 1st season of netball. They are ages 7 - 8. I don't want to use most improved or most valuable as they have all improved since their 1st game and they are all valuable to the team. So.....I guess I'm looking for more individual traits/skils ideas that is personal to each and every one of our players
Hi Everyone - anyone got any tips for motivational chats before big games and at half time? My team are 2nd on the ladder but can lose their bundle when faced with tough opponents or rain. We're in the last round of the season and going to make the finals,...any tips for motivational chats. Girls are Juniors, between 2 and 4 seasons of experience and of average ability in a middle grade (none of them will play for Australia but they generally try hard and love the game).
I'm due to start coaching some 6-12yr olds in February (have a meeting ahead of that in a week). At the moment I don't have any idea about abilites or previous experience but plan to ask about that next week, though I am guessing it won't be much, especially the younger ones. At the same time, I will be hepling to mentor some new coaches to help them progress (they will be Level 1 so assistant level in England). Any good tips for starting points? I have 12 weeks with them (all 1 hour sessions). My thoughts were to start with things like basic techniques for passing and getting footwork correct before moving onto attacking and defending principles as well as making sure there are plenty of fun games they can take part in.
Hi all, just checking what people's thoughts are on either playing the best combination or giving everyone equal time during a finals series. Throughout the season, everyone has been given a fairly equal run but I'm not sure what to do in the finals and would like to hear people's ideas. Thanks
in more ways than one
No more 50/50 toss-ups. When simultaneous infringements occur, possession now goes to the team that last had the ball. Here's what it means for your coaching.
Train your defenders to win clean turnovers, not just disrupt. The difference between good defenders and great ones is taking the ball, not just touching it.
