Hi everyone,I am a young coach and I'm just wanting some guidance and insights on what areas I should be focusing on for Under 11's. Most have moved up from under 9's and 2 new players.Thank you! ð¤
Hi Alicia, for coaching Under 11s, it's essential to focus on developing fundamental skills and building confidence in your players. Here are some areas you might want to concentrate on:
- Basic Skills: Emphasise on passing, catching, and footwork. Developing these skills will form a strong foundation for their future in netball.
- Movement and Agility: Encourage movement on and off the ball, and support the pass. This helps in creating space and maintaining possession.
- Attacking Skills: Focus on getting free and finding space. This will help players learn how to lose their defenders and create attacking opportunities.
- Defensive Skills: Teach them the basics of defending, such as marking and intercepting passes. This will help them understand the importance of defense in the game.
- Game Awareness: Use mini-games and challenges to improve their game awareness and reactions.
For detailed session plans, you can check out some specific plans like "Getting Free for Beginners" and "Mini Games for Juniors". These will provide structured guidance to enhance their skills effectively. Good luck, and have fun coaching!
