I'm coaching 9-10 year olds. We are in a development level before heading to juniors next year. Our team is made up of different levels of netball skills and knowledge of the game. I struggle to cater for all levels as we only practice once a week and they are still at development level. 5 players have 4 years + netball experience with a higher skill set and always wanting a challenge. 2 players who know the basic and this is there 2nd year. my last 2 players who don't know anything and this is there first time playing. Need ideas??
Hi Kataraina,
It can be difficult to coach a team with mixed abilities. Your aim should be to bring the new players up to the same level as the more experienced players and that can be easier than you think. Just simply playing small Netball games and drills together will bring the standard of your players closer together and the less experienced players will gradually learn more about the game.
You could also partner up more experienced players with new players when you are doing drills and get the senior players to try and coach the newer players on the skills they know when doing drills.
