silly question but mind gone blank.

silly question but mind gone blank. GS taking back line pass- throws ball round the back of goal post to GA who has her arms out-stretched beyond the backline and takes the pass. I seem to recall that technically the ball has NOT entered the court. Am I dreaming or is this correct

If advantage is called by the umpire and then no advantage gained by the non offending team due to the ball being lost/intercepted,should play be brought back for a free/penalty pass depending on the infringement that advantage was called for?

difficult player distracting training

I have a particular player who disrupts training constantly, she doesnt concentrate and undermines me often, she chooses which part of training she wants to do and refuses to do the rest, if forced to do it she sulks and puts the whole team into a mood. I need an approach with her that will get her attention at training and her respect.

How to deal with an unfair and rude umpire

I play in a back to netball league, the various other teams also agree that one of the umpires is rude and overbearing with a lot of the players. Her decisions are not explained and she doesn't answer any questions we have. We don't feel we learn anything from her. She also shouted a sarcastic comment across the court to me during the match. Is this something we can complain about? We look to her for guidance and encouragement and she just snaps back and is rude. Advice what to do about this situation would be good. no advantage taken by the team with the ball

when you call an advantage to an attacking team and no advantage had been taken due to the ball being intercepted etc. Do you call the play to come back as the team actually was disadvantaged and didn't receive any advantage from the infringing player

How do I stop face marking..? ...

Help... I am new to coaching netball albeit have played for years. My experience in playing comes from being an attacker so trying to work with my defence, is proving tricky. The issue I have is that both my GD and GK face mark. I have tried numerous drills in training however as soon as they get in to a match, they revert back to face marking. When the ball is coming down the court, I encourage them to stay on their toes, side marking and moving in front and round the back however when the GA or the GS moves out, the face marking starts. We have had balls bounce of the backs of heads and all sorts. Does anyone have any tips?  Di

How do I deal with a rude u15 ...

I have taken over coaching a 15/un open team about 8 months ago. The focus for improvement was to work on fitness. They are much fitter than when we started and now can finish off a game. There are 4 very good players and 4 average players. I need help with the attitude of one of the girls. She half-hearted takes direction, doesn't play well unless she plays in the position she wants to, constantly whispers negatives to others at training and is constantly giving us intolerable looks if she doesn't like what she hears. I could go on and on. And yes she is one of the average players. We have 3 coaches in the team and we have never come across such a rude girl. In my day you would get a ball in head if you weren't looking and listening to the coach! Please help with how we can engage this girl.

How do I stop my players from ...

Hi I coach a great team of under 9s and when we do a driving drill we start with "pitter patter feet" (like a very fast low jog on spot) then when i say GO they drive forward. However a lot of them step back with their foot then drive forward. Any tricks out there to get just going forward? Is it just the foot they start on like the strong foot? Or something else?

Obstructing player with back t...

I am a coach and an umpire, but i have been doing more coaching than umpiring of late. I have noticed a particular peculiarity with regards to the obstruction rule that i have seen more and more than i really do not think is correct. I have politely challenged asking the umpires concerned and also a second opinion from another umpire and they agree with me.We have had a defending player who is standing less than a foot away with her back to the person shooting with her arms up who is clearly interfering with the shot. The explanation i was given by the umpire that let this go unchallenged said that as long as the player can bring her arms up to shoot that is ok.My argument is that if a side or goal line pass is taken and the defending player has her back to the playing taking the pass then that shouldn't be challenged either.I agree that sometimes when the shot is under the post it is difficult to get 3 feet or with covid rules 4 feet away. But a lot of shooter follow there shoot through before releasing the ball, and when this is impeded sure all of these things constitute obstruction. Please help me, because although i am pretty confident that i am right and this umpire, and a number of other umpires i have noticed are doing the same. Can i please have feedback.
