Netball: Timing the V Cut

DESCRIPTION

Coach starts the drill by passing the first ball.

  1. First 2 players drive in opposite angles and the coach passes ball to player 1.
  2. Player 2 then changes direction and drives onto the second ball
  3. The second players now passes the ball to one of the 2 players driving from opposite direction.

COACHING POINTS

Players then join the back of the opposite lines and the drill continues.

PROGRESSION

Instead of just joining the back of the opposite line the players who have just run through the drill can drive towards the ball carriers to put passive pressure on the next two players.

Passing Lane | Movement

Passing Lane:

Player 1 passes to their partner then moves to the next cone to receive the ball back.

This repeats until players reach the end of the area.

3 Man Weave | Passing

3 Man Weave:

Players pass the ball out to the side and then follow their pass and run behind the player they passed the ball to.

Both the ball and all players should be moving steadily at all times.

Time your run - pass and move:

  1. The Player with the ball passes to player in space on the left.
  2. The player receiving the ball jumps into the air, prior to pass and turns in the air to receive ball, finishing up facing backwards to return ball to player in the same queue.
  3. This player then passes diagonally to the right.

Diagonal Cut to Lead | Getting free

Diagonal Cut to Lead:

  1. In turn the worker feeds the ball to the feeder and then drives to the spot.
  2. The worker then changes direction and drives on to the fast and flat pass from the feeder.
  3. Finally the worker passes to the next player in the opposite line who then passes to the feeder and repeats the exercise in opposite direction.
