I coach U8's and am looking for drills to get them used to tacking other players. They are fine using the tackle bags but are finding it difficult to get used to tackling players

I notice a lot of drills utilise pads as this was something we always used when I trained years ago! I personally think they are a good thing (especially since some of the juniors I coach are 'not small'!) BUT wondered what the general thoughts were out there in SportPlan world....
I have noticed that a lot of children try to tackle with their hands instead of their shoulders, does anybody else have this problem and what can I do to remedy it. Larger players run straight through a poor hands only defence, kids trying to grab at jerseys and coming up with nothing. Thanks for any input

How can I overcome my child's fear of tackling?
I coach under 8's and next season they will start contact. When am I allowed to start teaching them tackling skills? I sit january during their under 8 season or at the start of the under 9 season ?

What a fantastic tool. The Chalkboard and session tools make an unbelievable difference in making training plans in both time and organization. I will be instructing all of my assistant coaches that this tool must be used for all sessions during the season, so that we may build a club coaching resource library.
I can't get enough of the Sportplan, It has given me back the enthusiasm i was starting to lose. My girls are so keen and are ready at 14 to take the next up in their game. Sportplan will help no end.
