What do you look for in each position when you must put your team together. Who is your keyplayer (strongest player) on the court, the wing attack? Our team has lost the centre and the wing defence and it is a real headache to choose a new team.
How do you teach GK and GD to talk? I know I need to teach my 14yr olds to communicate in the circle, but what exactly should they be saying? And how do I teach them to switch partners in the circle when they need to rather than getting caught out focussing too much on one player? They're an awesome pair, and I think if we can address these two issues, they will be scary good. Thanks for any help. Heather.
I have two brand new players in a year 5 team, they have never played before, are very shy and seem afraid to get involved in the game. How do I build their confidence to get involved and what positions would be best to introduce them to to start with? Thanks

A netball player (Goal Defence) who was the anchor in the team was not recognised as a great team player and now that the season has started and I am the coach for this team, I see the kids would not pass the ball to her and is very indifferent towards her. This is coming from the parents of those kids. This little girl, with her dence skills drove the ball to other side and the team made their first score at interschool netball. She is under my wing now, how do I approach this situation and my response to the mum (ex netball captain) who has taken the time to watch every netball game.

If a WA is holding the ball on the edge of a shooting circle and is waiting for the shooter to move closer to the hoop whilst her legs are in a split position before passing her the ball then passes the ball to her as she is now closer where does the defender have to defend from.
(I dont usually play WD,so i`m still getting used to the position.When defending the WA at the centre pass, should i be on the inside or the outside of my player on the line?). How do i defend on the goal circle and try and get intercepts?when should i leave my player and try and go for an intercept?

Any ideas on how to rotate nine players in an under fifteen years team (none of whom want to play defence)??
We are playing summer comp (13 yr old girls). We have one shooter with a broken finger, and usually one other is injured or sick each week leaving us weekly with 5 players only. Which 2 positions do I not fill? Another coach told me WA and WD but I feel it just gives us both a weak attacking and a week defending team. I'm now thinking of putting the girls in attack only (GS GA WA C) with one girl in defence- GD ( and our centre covering the WD position from the other teams centre pass) This way we increase our chances of scoring from our own centre pass and still have someone defending their GA and WA from their centre pass in the hope of a intercept. My U14's could not get free on a Goal line throw in. I need practices for Goal Defenders (GD), wing defenders (WD) to get free to receive a pass from the goal Keeper (GK). With the second pass to the centre (C) or back to the GK. Thank you Angie. - submitted by email
I was teaching my girls centre pass defence. One of the mums said that the attacking WA and GA will never let our GD and WD on the out side of them. Is this true? if so why. thanx Kutz
My associate coach and I disagree on whether U/10s should play different positions or focus/settle on one, maybe two. I don't want to put the girls in a box at such a young age but I also don't want a Jack of all Trades situation. They are still developing so much that I feel I'll be doing them a disservice by just putting them in the same position every week. The assistant coach says if we move them around we're not going to do as well but that is where the participation vs performance comes in for me. Surely at this age development is more important than winning?No coach likes to lose but I don't want to win at the expense of them experiencing different positions. What do you guys suggest? What a fantastic tool. The Chalkboard and session tools make an unbelievable difference in making training plans in both time and organization. I will be instructing all of my assistant coaches that this tool must be used for all sessions during the season, so that we may build a club coaching resource library.
