2 player passing pattern

A. Player 1 passes the ball to player 2. B. Player 1 then follows his/her own pass. C. Player 2 passes the ball back to player 1 for a wall pass back in the space D. Player 2 runs onto the ball and has a shot at goal.

Passing & Receiving

3 Man Weave

- Three lines- Ball starts in the middle- Player makes a pass and then runs behind the player they have just passed to- Periodic passing pattern- Finish with a shot at goal

The wide player passes the ball to the supporting player who then passes the ball wide, missing out the other central player. This practice can be done with 2 balls at the same time.

Pass the ball to the supporting player who then passes the ball wide missing out the other central player. The practice can be done with 2 balls at the same time.

PAssing pattern

Player 1 runs around the cone and receives the ball from the opposite wing (2). After receiving the ball, player 1 plays a DOUBLE wall pass with one of the forwards (3) and takes their position whilst this player goes off to score. Then the player that started the practice runs around the cone and the whole passing sequence follows again.

In this you set out 2 colours of cones. Player 1 after having passed the ball will run to the red cones and player 2 will run from blue to blue. You can set out any pattern you want to teach your players.

Moving back and forth between two cones players make straight and diagonal passes to each other while moving.

Player 1 plays the ball across to 2, who in turn plays it up inside the cones to 3 who shoots at goal. Player 2 then moves to where 3 was and 3 joins the back of their queue. As soon as player 3 has shot then 4 passes the ball across to 1, who plays it up the line to 6 who then shots. Player 1 then moves to where 6 was and 6 joins the back of their queue. Play then continues in this fashion.

If players struggle to understand the patterns that you want them to run and try using 2/3 different coloured cones (depending on number of players). Each player after having passed the ball has to run to their next coloured cone etc. You could try this on all the previous exercises and for patterns of play for 2 or 3 players on the pitch.

Pass the ball around in groups of three. Before receiving the ball players must make a movement towards the approaching ball and let it roll past their body before they receive it and pass it on to the next player.

Aerial Ball Passing & Receivin...

Aerial pass or flick is useful when passing over distance or to try and get the ball over an opponent who is blocking your passing route. Left hand should be pointed at target, knees bent, head over the ball and feet wide apart. Drop the right shoulder and transfer your weight forward, bringing through head of the stick under and behind the ball. Left hand comes through first and then the right hand to lift and guide pass. After lifting the ball body and arms should continue to move forward and end up pointing at passing target.

4 players position themselves in the circle, one in each zone. A player from the top of the circle passes the ball to any of the players in the circle, and follows the ball to take the the place in that zone. <br />The player receiving the ball can shoot or pass the ball. He/she then follows the pass or comes to the back of the queue at the top of the circle.

Player 1 passes the ball to 2 who in turn passes it to 3 on the run. Player 3 then runs round the cone anti-clockwise before passing the ball to player 1. Player 1 then again passes to 2 who in turn passes to 3 who then runs clockwise round the cone and then passes back to 1.

Player 1 passes the ball to player 2 who has run across the pitch. On receiving the ball, player 2 turns around and runs towards the goal and passes the ball into the path of player 3. Player 3 takes the ball and shoots.

Player 1 passes the ball to player 2, who lets the ball run across the body and runs with the ball to the next cone. He or she dummies to hit the pass wide but hits it under the arm into the path of player 3 running infield. Player 3 receives the ball on the move and shoots at goal.<br /><br />Rotation 1-2,2-3,3-1

Objective: To master the clip hit, often used as a progression to the full hit, but also very effective in a game situation. Purpose: It is a quicker hit than a full swing hit due to the fact the hands are lower down the stick, shorterning the swing and menaing you can get a quick hit away under pressure.  Structure: Pairs

White player 1 and 2 have decided between them who will take the self pass (without the defender knowing) On the whistle both white players run to take the self pass but only one comes back with the ball. The defender can try and stop them scoring. Player taking the self pass can shoot or pass to other player. Next pair decide between them and get ready.

Player 1 starts dribbling the first ball across the square, in the middle they pass (push) the ball to player 2 and carry on running across. Players 3 and 4 do similar. Players pass to the left and the right. Designed to practice pass camouflage.

The player with the ball passes the ball square to the other attacking player. Upon receiving the ball player 2 runs laterally across the defender, staying just out of reach. In the meantime player 1 has to run diagonally into the space behind the defender. Player 2 has two options they can pass the ball into the space behind the defender for player 1 to run onto or player 2 can keep the ball and continue to run past the defender. Player 2 can pass at any time and must run to be available for the return pass from player 1.

Teams of 4 try and pass the ball across the pitch as quickly as possible, not missing any players out. Each player should at least touch the ball twice. The first team to pass the ball 10 times across the pitch is the winner.

The feeders on the half way line pass to the players higher up the field on the wings. The wing players must cut inside and then out to receive the pass. The wing player then runs up the pitch before passing to the central player who has to run to one side of the circle or the other before shooting.

Pass and follow with a wall pass. Player 1 passes the ball for a wall pass to player after receiving the ball back. Player 1 passes the ball to player 4. Player 4 does a wall pass with player 3 and receives the ball back. Player 4 then continues and plays a 2v1 at the top of the circle against the defender (only allowed to defend outside the circle.
