Hockey: Passing with 2 players in a square

DESCRIPTION

Player 1 starts dribbling the first ball across the square, in the middle they pass (push) the ball to player 2 and carry on running across. Players 3 and 4 do similar. Players pass to the left and the right. Designed to practice pass camouflage.

PAssing pattern | Passing & Receiving

PAssing pattern:

Player 1 runs around the cone and receives the ball from the opposite wing (2). After receiving the ball, player 1 plays a DOUBLE wall pass with one of the forwards (3) and takes their position whilst this player goes off to score. Then the player that started the practice runs around the cone and the whole passing sequence follows again.

Passing Relays:

Passing ball around the outside of the cones. While another team is running a relay around the outside square. How many passes can the passing team do in the time the relay team does 8 runs. Then vice-versa.

Passing with Decision Making:

  • Setup the practice as shown with cones 5m, 10m and 15m away.
  • Split the group into pairs.

    • Player 1 remains behind the line while player 2 moves backwards and forwards into the different zones. The position of player 2 determines what kind of return pass is made. This exercise develops decision making as well as using three passing techniques in one exercise.

    Give and Go Circle - Part 1:

    1. The inside player passes the ball to their partner on the outside.

    2. The inside player then moves clockwise to receive the ball back via a wall pass from the outside player.

    3. The inside player then runs clockwise to pass the ball to the next player on the outside

    Practice continues.
