Netball: Reactions off a Wall

DESCRIPTION

  • Get into pairs, with a ball each and find a space on a wall
  • Both players will pass their ball at the wall at the same time 
  • They will then catch their partners ball - so the balls have switched 

COACHING POINTS

  • Use a variety of passes to challenge your partner 
  • Ensure you pass the ball hard at the wall so it will reach your partner 
  • Try to aim the ball centrally, or past central, to allow the ball to switch sides 
  • You can get your players to work for a set time, number or reps or challenge them to do as many passes as possible without a dropped ball

Reverse Hand Control | DIY Drills

Reverse Hand Control:

  • Get into pairs with one ball
  • Stand approximately 2 meters apart 
  • One player will be the worker and the other the feeder 
  • The feeder will pass the ball in at different positions to the worker 
  • The worker will use their reverse hand to control the ball and pass it back to the feeder

Quick Hands - Progression:

  • Place one leg in front of the other and slightly bend your knees
  • Place the ball between your legs with one hand in front and one behind
  • Release the ball and step forward
  • Quickly switch hand positioning - the hand behind will go in front and vice versa

  • Release the ball

Getting Around Your Player - Progression | DIY Drills

Getting Around Your Player - Progression:

  • Place down a chair
  • Position yourself in front of the chair with a ball
  • Throw the ball into the air
  • Using a narrow foot base and fast feet, move around the chair
  • Catch the ball back in your original position before its second bounce
