Community | Backline Practise Attack 1

Sharon Baker Coach, England

DESCRIPTION

Not set-play, rather working through options for backlines within the attacking circle. Asking players to consider: 1. How quickly can you set-up for the backline? Of what do you need to be aware in the preceding play? 2. Who is offering for ball? Are they holding a static space or are they prepared to move? 3. How are the defence angled? Are they man-on or marking space and what impact will that have on the pass? 4. What are the "back-up" options? How should players react if that plan has to come into play? In this instance, I have tried to show a few options from a similar set-up. For 1st phase: WA can be holding strong or driving on circle edge. GS strong hold under post with space for lifted ball For 2nd phase Quick 1-2 to GA Overhead to GS Swing to C for flat ball into GS All of this can quickly change by shift in angle from defender so if players have a grip on the principles, it's important to run through at full pace with defence working to combat!
