2 Feeders, 2 Balls, 1 Worker 1 High pass, 1 Mid-Level pass, 1 flick round the back F1 passes one high pass, them a mid-level pass Worker returns passes 1 & 2 back to F1 F2 then passes a straight pass to workers left side, worker catches and passes back with an âaround-the-backâ Work for 5 sets Extension is catch and return pass only using 1 arm on pass 1 & 2 Repeat working the opposite side Progression: Ask worker to receive and control each catch with one hand, rather than two, aiming good control on their fingers and an accurate flick back to the passer. Next, ask the worker to take a step or two closer to the passers. Now the balls will be coming quicker, but it also requires even an softer and more controlled touch on each ball, so theyâre not flung back too hard at the passers. To advance the drill and challenge the worker further, now ask them to walk forwards and backwards a few metres while completing the same passing sequence. They still need to execute the passes deftly and accurately, however now theyâve also got to think about walking and their feet, particularly when they make the around-the-back pass.
Passes 1 & 2 need to be caught, controlled and passed back quickly and accurately. Complete this sequence a number of times until the players are comfortably and consistently completing it successfully, and then switch to the other side of the body. Ensure the players are rotated regularly. Not all players will pick up the progressions as quickly as some of the others, so only progress each player once theyâve mastered the previous step. Some may only get to the second or third progression, and thatâs fine.

Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
