Help, dad thrown in the deep end - what basic attacking strategies do you use for 11 years olds? They have great skill and have played since they were 5 years old, but still run around like headless chickens, everyone calling for the ball and getting in each other's way. Is there a method to this madness I can teach? Some teams look like they know who is going to pass to who and the ball gets from one end to the other fluidly. I have a strong team of u21's who play brilliantly, except for running into one another space. Is there a drill which focuses on clearing out before re-attacking as a group?
Help... I am new to coaching netball albeit have played for years. My experience in playing comes from being an attacker so trying to work with my defence, is proving tricky. The issue I have is that both my GD and GK face mark. I have tried numerous drills in training however as soon as they get in to a match, they revert back to face marking. When the ball is coming down the court, I encourage them to stay on their toes, side marking and moving in front and round the back however when the GA or the GS moves out, the face marking starts. We have had balls bounce of the backs of heads and all sorts. Does anyone have any tips? Di

Hi, have a short GS in Rep. She has practiced and applied lots of strategies including holding, clearing out and reoffering, dodging and popping in space right in front of defence to take pass, triangles, holding and turning. She has to work super hard because of her lack of height against much taller defences. For the most part, she does really well, however there are still times when she seems to get stuck doing a little sideways dance behind the GK when she comes across a GK who is particularly good at holding front position, shadowing and anticipating the dodge. Does anyway have any suggestions? I am wondering if telling her to change her starting position in the circle, slightly to one side of the circle when the ball is on it''s way down to give her a definite space to drive to and then create doubt by sometimes driving out and sometimes driving back? Would love some ideas to try.
When a shooter steps in when taking a shot the defender does not have to move. Is this rule still current or have they changed it because on saturdays game my defenders were not moving when the shooter stepped in but they were being pulled for obstruction every time. Also if the shooter steps in and you keep your feet still but move your arm is this still obstruction?
the importance of speed in a game of netball
I am an umpire as well as a player, and I had a situation a few weeks ago that challenged my knowledge. On a centre pass. Referring to the third lines. Do the third lines form part of the centre court or are they part of the goal third. In other words at what point would GA,GD,WA and WD become off side? If their foot/feet were on the line? Same for the Centre, would she be off side if her foot/feet were on the line?
My friend coaches an under 13s team and when someone has the ball they all run for it like seagulls going for bread. The coach has told them many times to spread out and for not everyone to run to the ball at once but the girls keep doing it and they can't get the ball down the court.
I had a GS that would step in everytime to take a shot, the GD would hold her ground and continue to defend the ball (3 feet from the original landed foot), however the GD would then reach with her arms to the ball above the GShooters head where the GS in the act of trying to get clear of the GD would hit the ball against the GD hand. I didnât call anything however my question is if the ball is forced by the GS into the GD hand is this a penalty? The other occurrence that happened was when the GS stepped in on another occasion, she was physically touching/on top of the GD, I didnât think the GD was in the wrong as she was 3 feet, did the GD have to reshuffle so she was not touching or is this a penalty on the GS?
We're about to play a team who's GD is well over six foot! Any advice on getting the ball in the net without her intercepting? Our GS and me are fairly small.
Hello. I am a 14 year old girl. I have never umpired before, and i am expected to umpire this weekend. I will be starting on 10-12 year olds. As you can see i dont have much experience at umpiring and i am pretty nervous that im going to stuff up or call the wrong award for the infringment that occured. I have read the Netball Australia umpiring book but some of the words are too fomral for my liking, i dont quiet undertsand. ANY TIPS PLEASE?!
I'm an accredited coach doing some research on blocking as I had never had a player called for 'interference'. Is it within the rules to block your opponent from leading down court whilst facing her? The example is with my WD going out for centre pass, then blocking her WA (whilst facing her) to delay WA's lead down court. What a fantastic tool. The Chalkboard and session tools make an unbelievable difference in making training plans in both time and organization. I will be instructing all of my assistant coaches that this tool must be used for all sessions during the season, so that we may build a club coaching resource library.
