How can I shoot against tall defence?

We're about to play a team who's GD is well over six foot! Any advice on getting the ball in the net without her intercepting? Our GS and me are fairly small.

Hi Lisa, as a coach I would suggest try and shoot close in to the ring so your opponent can't actually defend the shoot as they would be within 3 feet of your position. Another way is to fake the shot and touch their outstretched defending hand, the umpire may call the defender for contact. If the defender jumps or leans forward, then faking the first attempt may also cause the defender to over balance and the umpire may call obstruction. Always shoot from above your head and give the ball a high arc in the air with a little backspin to clear the defenders hands. Good luck. Also half a step back and balance on that foot can give you a little extra space to shoot.

Try blocking the shot. If the GS has the ball and putting up a shot have the GA stand between the defender and shooter to help block it.
