What is the best way to teach the positions to 8 year old first time players?
I just wanted some help planning a netball practice for 8 year old girls - about 1/2 - 45 minutes - the girls are just starting out
I'm coaching ball skills to 8 year olds who have never played before. I have a good idea of sessions to run but any top tips from coaches with experience in this age group would be welcomed!
Hi there,I have little 8 year old future ferns. Any suggestions on some drills or activities to help them with turning and releasing the ball.
I am coaching a little net set go team (set tier) with ages 5-8. Usually I coach high school girls. A mum of one of the 7 yr olds just messaged me with this: "i was just wondering If you have any tips to help us get Miss S enthused about netball, she isn't enjoying it but wants to "give it more time" (her words)." We only have a half hour training session before we play as no one else will coach but this is the only time I can do training and there are players from another town so this is the best option for everyone. We play a couple of warm up drills/games and practice 1 skill ready for our game. I have covered the basics of passing and footwork so far. None of my team have ever played before, but 4 of them did the net set go - net tier last year. The girl has only played 2 games so far as we have had a bye. So far she has had a go at positions GK, GD, GS, GA, and WA. She is the tallest girl in the team and so tends to get a fair amount of the ball. Any ideas on what to suggest to this mum?
How can I teach my 8 year olds to spread out when bringing the ball down the court?
I am coaching a team of 8-9yr olds one of which is deaf. I am having problems getting anything to help me with this. Also I am wanting to print off some simple warmup drills eg basic run to first third walk back knees up walk back etc but have picturs for her aswell, but the session planner is more advance than this- I am wanting to do the same warm up for the start of each training and game. Any help ould be fantastic!!!

Hello. I am a 14 year old girl. I have never umpired before, and i am expected to umpire this weekend. I will be starting on 10-12 year olds. As you can see i dont have much experience at umpiring and i am pretty nervous that im going to stuff up or call the wrong award for the infringment that occured. I have read the Netball Australia umpiring book but some of the words are too fomral for my liking, i dont quiet undertsand. ANY TIPS PLEASE?!
Would love some advice, I am a new coach about to start coaching 7-8 year olds who have never played netball before. I would love any advice you have for a new coach on how to structure the training session, any drills I should start with and fun ways to teach them the basic skills of netball
Hi, I have a team of 11 year olds with 8 in the team, is there a fair way of substituting fairly so they all get equal court time. I do not want any arguments with parents.ThanksDi
What is the best way to teach the positions to 8 year old first time players?
I am training some net-baller between the ages of 8 -14 and the drills are very hard for the 8 year old. Do i have to split the team up
I coach a group of 10 girls (8 yrs old) in the grade above netta (we call it Sub-minis but same rules as netta) I rotate them 4 def 2 c 4 attack (eg 3/4 each or 1/2 if they are center) I am having problems teaching them spaceing and who to lead into which spot etc. After our game on the weekend I thought I'ld try a different tack (was a bit loathed to do this as they may take it too literal) but I am wanting to split the court into "zones" for each position as a guide for them eg Center gets the middle "track" right down the court WA one side GA the other etc. has anyone tried this, will it make it worse any further suggestions......?????
Hi guys. So I've been coaching for 3 years. The same bunch of girls since they were 7-8 years old. I'm coaching then again this year which is great. But I've also just been approached in coaching the under 12's development rep team. Just wondering what I'm in for, as I haven't been given a lot of information as yet. Hi I am a student teacher, I am currently doing my placement in a class of 7 and 8 year old. They need to work on defending while the opposite team is trying to shoot. They need to work on keeping their distance in particular. Does anyone have any ideas of activities I can do with my class to help them improve on this skill?
hi guys. i am the coach of a year 6/7/8 primary team, this year i picked an extra large squad of 13 girls as we are a small town and didnt want to turn anyone away. i have 2 players that are by far the standouts of the team. at beginning of season i explained due to numbers no one would get full games and two people would stand down per week which has so far worked well. however now the parents think i should be playing these two girls all the time for full games. the two girls will leave for college next year and i fear giving them all the game time will discourage my young up and comers and i will then be left with nothing next year. i also think some parents are unaware if i do this it will be their children that are on the sideline. is it better to have many kids playing some netball than just some playing lots??? please help
I have a team of 8 10-11 year old girls. 5 of them have great skill level and are very enthusiastic the other 3 are quite lazy and are not up the skill level of the others. I am finding it really quite hard at training to engage these 3 while not holding the others back. It is also hard to place them on game day without the others getting frustrated. Any ideas. HELP
