In pairs, 1 ball, 1 cone. Set up 8m apart. Worker (C) starts with the ball. W throw a shoulder pass to feeder (GD) then follows the pass, sprinting round the back of the feeder. F drops the ball in front of her for W to pick up. Without footworking, W picks up the ball, turns and completes a jump pass, returning the ball to F.
Shoulder pass- elbow at a right angle, opposite foot stepping into the pass as the ball is released. The ball is 'pushed' straight through the air, with the arm and hand pointing in the direction of the ball to follow through. Jump pass- both feet shoulder width apart. Ball in both hands. Bring the ball above the head and as player is about to release the ball they jump up in the air. This allows the ball to gain more height. Ball tradjectory is flat or down depending on where the receiver is.

Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
