It's important that the three attacking players are not standing too far away from each other.
Focus on the defender.
Rotate the defending player regularly and get your defenders to think about their distance from players and the ball.
Encourage defenders to stand with a wide, low stance (ask them why they think this is?) and anticipate the direction of pass.
