DESCRIPTION

Cops And Robbers (Stage 2 defence and making decisions) ▪ The ball starts on the circle line. ▪ The 3 defenders start in front of the line A, the 3 attackers start in front of line B. ▪ The attacking team need to get the ball, whilst the defending team track the attackers movements. ▪ Once the attacking team has the ball they must aim to catch the ball over line B. ▪ If they attacking team successfully receive the ball over line B they receive 1 point. If the defenders intercept the ball they must get the ball over line A to score a point. ▪ After each point scored the ball is returned to line A and the game is re-started. ▪ The attacking team has 3 attempts to get the ball over the line. After 3 attempts the attackers and defenders switch roles

COACHING POINTS

What decisions do you need to make as a team? How can you improve your game defenders? Should you looking at the ball or your players? Are you aware of where all the attackers were? Attackers can take on defence and get free or pass the ball backwards in order to give more options Balance space Defenders stay with their opposition Decision making by ball carrier to pass forward or backwards Recognise when a player is free Where to run (drive forward) next after the ball has been passed? Follow pass or go wide and deep? Movement options Which pass to use
