Sharon Garner Coach, England

DESCRIPTION

You can start this drill working in pairs with a feeder and an attacking player, using the "figure of 8" ("bowtie") movement patterns to familiarise themselves with the footwork and angles. Feeder can pass or feint pass - consider pass type relevent to position and movement type. Attacking player has to make quick decisions where to head next - that doesn't always involve quick movement! Complete a number of reps or could be for a specified time. Progression: have 2 players working simultaneously across the whole third. They can throw to the feeders or each other, BUT only onto moving player Ideally it should be a see-saw effect, so one player is off edge as the other is on as the first pass is received. Progression: Add in defenders. Attacking players still looking to maintain definite movements - offer option to change direction from one hot spot to another mid-run but ONLY if the defender has forced them to do so. Advanced Progression: Add in a GS in circle who uses the outside hotspots and post. This player is looking to balance the court so moves into the 3rd channel not in use as the 2 attackers outside move around.
